Thread: Unique problem on BSNL BB connection

Hi Guys,


Am a new user for BSNL BB connection in Bangalore,no issues with speed or connectivity.However unable to access specific site from BSNL from couple of days,tried everything possible from my end by disabling Norton security & did try to connect to that site from my other PC but no joy.Then tried accessing the same from my Airtel 3G connection works fine, hence tried accessing the same site from my freinds BSNL BB connection unable to access the same.Did tracert from my end got to know that its getting stuck at BSNL network.

Hence I came to a conclusion that its some issue with BSNL network & did complain,however the support centre have no clue & told me they will call back & still waiting

Need to know from any of you how to escalate this to a Technical person at BSNL?

Hey, I have an EXTREMELY SIMILAR problem.

It looks like a number of websites/servers in the USA are not accessible on BSNL.

For me it's a number of forums based in the US and anything related to Blizzard entertainment (diablo/warcraft/starcraft).

And yes I cannot ping those either. I have a sc2 account and cannot login to that either or update.

Also yea traceroutes get stuck very early on bsnl's end.

I also have a backup airtel connection (it's dsl though) and everything works fine on that.

And, can you list the websites/servers *you* are having trouble accessing ?

Yes buddy US sites at my end too, so what u did from ur end to reach BSNL?

Hey can you tell me which specific sites pls ? lol
I just want to figure out which network domain in the US is down from bsnl.

anyway looks like some major bsnl routing mess up and the problem is on multiple sites (this is what i learned from another forum).

Anyway Personally I haven't contacted BSNL.

If I contact their call center they give me a "reference number" and then nothing happens.

I really don't know how to contact technical ppl in BSNL for specific network routing issues like this.

yeah problem just got fixed for me too

It has a very simple solution.
Go to your router setting and change the MTU value
In most cases its 1492.Sometimes 1500.
I had similar problems before.
I use 1454 as my MTU,it opens every site and has no problem.
You can also try 1448 and 1472.But stick with 1454 its my personal favourite.
There is another way of selecting an optimal MTU but thats for advanced users.And I wouldn't advice you to tweak with your settings.
