Angry DSL disconnecting every 2-3 mins help plzz!!

    Hi again!!

I am having problems with my adsl..It is disconnecting every 2-3 mins..Sometimes if i am lucky adsl is stable for 10 mins. some steps i have already taken to check the frequent DC's..

    1. Checked all cables-ethernet,adsl,adapter were stable.
    2. Checked the splitter.
    3. Directly removed the copper wiring of the line from the box like thingy and fixed it firmly back in. Most times doing this usually fixed the problem.
    4. Checked SNR margin and line attentuation rates.Everything seems to be in v.good condition.
    5. Turned off firewall.
6.tried using open dns and google dns

none of the above steps i have taken has had a single effect on the router and it is disconnecting every 3 mins making browsing/ gaming almost impossible. I am having this problem for last 2 days..

    I am using a NEW D-LINK DSL-2520U router (like 1 month old)..

I've had no problems like this for past month..Please can anyone tell me what the source of the problem is and how to fix it? whenever the lineman comes,,every time i call him to check THE LINE all he does is check the box like thing and the splitter and see if all lights are on in router and says everything is ok with internet....please help..it has already dc'd once when i was still typing this!!When modem got dc'd the snr DS was showing 5.8!

here are my dsl stats(before DC)

SNR margin -DS 22.8(changing every few secs..it was 27.2 a few secs ago) - UPSTREAM 20.0
    Attentuation - DS - 23.5 UStream-10.8

hi dilip..thx for the link.i read that link before posting this thread

Im think that problem is with telephone line(even tho there is no disturbance in telephone). is it possible to check the line myself? the lineman takes like a 3 days to come and check the problem..

And how to change modem to GDMT mode?

To change to GDMT mode, log in to modem and browse through the settings. You will the option to select between various modes.

Yes, you can check yourself. An eye inspection of the line for joints, oxidised or non insulated parts will do. If there is something like that, ask the line man to give a clean line. If he does not oblige, talk to the SDE of your exchange.

Book a complaint through portal and get the ticket no. You are entitled for discount during downtime. Or at least you can later prove you are facing this issue since a while.

Alternatively, use this link for online complaint

Check with friends in same area if they are also facing this issue.

Hope you already tried different ethernet ports on your modem. To confirm, you can borrow a friend's modem and check using it.

GDMT is enabled in router settings..this problem only started yesterday.I checked the line and everything seems to be ok..maybe the problem is with exchange itself? But i think the lineman will have better understanding of those things....I tried using my old UT300r2u modem and still i had the same problem

I will also book a complaint through the URL u shared. And will also book a complaint by calling 1500 tmrw!! Thanks for all the help dilip.
