Thread: modem problems

I have a bsnl ut300r2u modem earlier it used to work properly
nowadays i shows 4 lights before connecting a it does not get connected while i try to connect it it shows that phone line is busy

my modem has 4 lights
power
dsl
internet
ethernet
usb

under normal working conditions only power,dsl and ethernet lights are ON and internet light blinks.

Lamp Indications:

Power: This LED will glow as soon as you switch on the modem.

DSL : This LED will start glowing permanently when the connectivity between the Exchange equipment/switch and your modem is proper/established.

Internet: This internet Activity lamp will blink whenever there is a data flow between internet and the modem.

Ethernet: This LED will glow as soon as you switch on the computer if the computer is connected with modem through LAN/NIC/Ethernet card. Or

USB: This LED will glow as soon as you switch on the computer if the computer is connected with modem through USB port of your computer..

Also Diagnostics page . Report error.

Connect RJ11 direct to modem from BSNL Phone junction.
( Normally All phones to be connected to ADSL splitter Phone port )
Confirm Phone working OK.
Confirm you are using a "Dialer" to connect.
( entering UserID PW in computer window )

All LEDs working fine but still not able to connect ?

Internet light blinks only in PPPoE mode, how you got phone is busy error ?

Mention OS, use the link above to check the settings or reconfigure it from scratch. But before that check with friends in your area that it is for all. Call exchange and confirm it is not an exchange issue.

Presume you tried a modem reset.

yes i have reset my modem

i use windows xp

What is the status now ?

Checked modem settings ?

Checked if it is not only with you ?

ya i have checked it it is only with me
can u suggest me to connect the modem through the usb(now it is connected with ethernet cable)
will this solve the problem??

Mode of connection ""Bridged" Or PPPoE ?
Confirm you connect in PPPoE mode
(UserId/PW entered/stored in WAN page of modem ))
