Question Do i need a modem + router from BSNL?

i guess this might have been asked here a few times.

So i got a ADSL modem/ router with me. If i get an unlimited plan from bsnl do i still need to get a modem from bsnl or just getting the connection from them is good enough.

If i don't have to get the modem from them do i need to mention it somewhere in the form?

    thanks.

Mention details of the mode+router you have.
    Model/make/number.
Whether was in working condition earlier ?
and used for a different ISP?
See whether it is listed here.

    Give details of the modem/router
    Make/model number.
    Check whether listed here.
    http://mp.bsnl.co.in/bb/modems.htm
    or here:
    http://www.calcutta.bsnl.co.in/dataoneinstall/menu.html
    or in signature links below.

Is it in working condition and used earlier for a different ISP?

    2. After checking above you can opt for a unit from BSNL if needed.

    Netgear DGN2200 N300

    If brand new,/unused will work.
This is an adsl modem + wifi router.
Use the Wizard, and enter details asked.
    usually VPI/VCi 0 and 35 UserId PW
You can connect 4 desktops with rj45 and lapops/smartphones etc
    in WIFI mode.

thanks, now i need to go apply for my internet connection.

will let you know how it goes later once my connection is activated.

You can fill up the form at CC ( CustomerCare) of your nearest BSNL Telephone Exchange,
or if lazy/too busy register here !
UDAAN PROJECT -- BSNL ( No need to log in ).

BSNL no longer supplies modem, so that won't be a problem. You can use any supporting ADSL modem with BSNL and won't find any difference for domestic plans no matter what speed they offer.

Yep, saw that. Just wanted to clarify that it is no longer an issue as BSNL has stopped supplying modems.
