Default Advantages and disadvantages of BSNL WIMAX OF BSNL BROADBAND

Hi friends, I need Unlimted internet at a decent speed urgently in my house as I am frustrated with Tata Photon+
I dont have a landline at home, first I thought I need landline for BSNL connection, but then thanks to this website, i realised I can get without any landline through BSNL wimax (not sure my info is correct, plz correct me if wrong)...
BSNL wimax has 750 UL at 512 kbps and also BSNL broadband with 750 UL...
IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS TWO PLANS APART FROM LANDLINE...
I mean frequent disconnectivity, slow speed, video buffering, Ping (for online gaming)...or any other
Please share your views, and guide me and give me all the advantages and disadvantages
    .

You can buy Netgear N150 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router - Model DGN1000. I am using this for last 15 days. Peformance is very good and very easy to configure. The device cost is Rs. 2500 (It may vary location wise).

any kind of wireless connection is an inherently unreliable technology.

packet loss, latency fluctuations, lag/latency/high pings etc are considered perfectly normal with wireless connections.

Online gaming/ip telephony skype/secure shell, or vnc type apps/streaming video or audio and torrents are not ever a good idea on a wireless connection. Even downloading anything is a pain.

They really aren't for any kind of serious internet usage other than checking emails/facebook.

Also typically they are far costlier than wired connections.

The media representation of wireless connectivity is almost entirely a lie. People are stupid and buy into their bull-sh*t and hype.

Any BSNL night unlimited or fully unlimited plan is good. All the newer plans have FUP don't go for those.

BSNL home combo 500 with night unlimited is good and the UL 750 plan is good.

BSNL billing is from 1 st to 30 th (or 31 st) no matter when you get connection. If you got on 11 th, you need to pay only for 20 days.

it will be proportionate both in terms of money as well as data(if limited plan).
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

    For 20 days,

    750 x (20/30) = 500 + 10.3 % tax = 500 + 51.50 = Rs. 551.50

for UL 750 Combo if you connection is valid from 11 th.

Even it is an old post i would like to comment on about wimax and broadband 750 plans...I am using both and i should tell that wimax is far superior to the performance than my broadband.i used to watch videos, download softwares or update them.
But one should be noted that for wimax they should atleast have 3 lights in their wimax antenna.
The drawback is a bit of latency compared to the bsnl and this will only feel when you check with speedchecking websites like speedtest.net.
I am more comfortable with wimax with its 2 months of use and i dont like bsnl broadband performance with 2 yrs usage.
I used broadband and wimax in a single system and i could easily makeout the difference in performance in wimax and broadband.

The main drawback of wimax is less upload speed which is important for those who upload a lot.
If the wimax has 3 signals you can get an download speed of an average of 98kbps to 1mbps(howi750(512kbps)) and uploadspeed of 36kbps.For less signal rates you get only 7 to 15 kbps upload speed. It you receive 5 signals in the wimax antenna you can get up to 50 to 60kbps.My speed never went below 512kbps even there was some complaint on the wimax basestation and is now about 1mbps downspeed.

I watch youtube with almost nil interruption in wimax with 360pix while in broadband i couldnt even start unless i change it to 280pix.

One more drawback of wimax i found is sometime rain gives a bit of less signal but still it is better to my broadband. My telephone wiring inside and ouside of my house are brand new and you cant tell that because of the wiring i am lagging back in broadband.

I checked my wimax in my house and my friend's house which is 40kms away from my home and there also i am getting same speed.
I national roaming is there in it.

Raj is very true. WIMAX is more efficient where it overrides physical transmission deficiencies(Extremely high latency times, Higher contention ratios, ..)

What I understood from plan is that we can get device on a monthly rent of 50/-. Can anyone please confirm my understanding?

Also, is WiMAX available in Pune & if yes, how is service? I'm staying in Keshav Nagar (Mundhwa), so I'm not sure if wired broadband is available in my society. I'm looking for reliable good speed internet service.

They are not giving modems now in Bangalore ... I stay near marathalli area. Renting the modem is the best option if you requirements are limited
