10 m seems to be a decent range for WiFi modem. The signal strength depends on various factors like distance, nature of obstructions, levelling and altitude with floor and device, WiFi adapter of the device etc.

You can find many Do It Yourself guides on net for the same. The one we have here is

http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...nge-cheap.html (Boost your Wifi Range Cheap!!)

Indicate the total radius of wifi activity in your flatcomplex/house/apartment and the height involved.
Budget: can you spend for another similar model or only wifi router to link both without cables ( rj45)

    2.
keep the modem at a higher height with "Line of sight " radiation.
With the higher gain antenna Range should improve.
    3.
Can keep the antenna parallel to the ground and rotate for Max
signals at distant spot. ( Vertical Pattern Figure 0
Horizontal pattern figure 8 say Max east/west min North/South)

    3.
Antenna can be detached to use higher gain antenna. .
Antenna Type Omni directional, Detachable, Reverse SMA
    Antenna Gain 5dBi
Higher gain compared to 2 dBi of other models.
    4.

Post screenshot of Status device Info or the SNR/ATTN mod selected data.Improved SNR also can help in Increased wifi range.

    Feedback.

Change to GDMT for a marginal increase in SNR d/l

How far you want the wireless mode to work ?
    Radius of activity ?
    At what height ? distance 100 meters 500 meters 1 KM ?
    What is your budget ?

Antenna Parallel to ground ~~~~~wifi signals pattern figure of 8
Say Max North South. MIN EAST/WEST Rotate the unit in wanted direction .
Antenna Vertical Mode ~~~ wif signals pattern figure 0 equal 360 degrees.
Strength reduces farther away due to walls/obstructions etc.

Default tp link td-w8901g Adsl modem+wifi router.

Not satisfactory. Unit has a High gain Antenna 5 dBi
( at Table level my 450TCI is Ok for a distance of 10 meters
vertical antenna 2 dBbi gain antenna ( standard in old WIFI routers.
    across three walls feet 5 wall+20feet+wall+5 feet +wall +approx 5 feet )
    )

Check Channel selected prefer Channel `11 or 6
Ensure Button High power is selected in Wireless page.

Also check WLAN card Advanced settings. ( for Power limit )
Click WIFI icon Status properties on top wlan card details Configure
    Advanced .)
