Question BSNL BB ,wireless is faster than wired connection

I've BSNL BB UL combo 750 plan in Chennai.
I have checked the speed using speedtest in computer , it is showing 500 Kbps( small 'b')

Where as when I set up wireless connection using D link wireless router and checked the speed in my mobile it i s showing 756Kbps.
Is it really the case or there is some problem with my observation, I don't have laptop, so I couldn't check the wireless speed through computer.
Once I get hold of a laptop I will check the same and update you the details.

Wireless gives neither higher or lower speed than your available speed if configured properly and signal strength is good. Even in Chennai, you will not get anything more than 512 Kbps for Ul 750. Hope you know about promotional plans. To get them, you need to apply for a plan change. essbebe will be able to help if you need someone with on hand experience.

A download from Microsoft will give you an accurate idea of your speed.

Hi Dilip, thanks for the reply. I will be in touch with essbebe to know more about the promotional plans. I do understand that the speed should remain same through out the same connection but what I said is true. The download speed is more in mobile( connected through wireless,75 Kbps) where as the download speed is less in my desktop(500kbps).
I double checked now also, I tried checking with downloading a file in desktop it was 58kBps where as I couldn't check the download rate in mobile. I might b e looking wrong at things I just want to know where I'm looking wrong.

    Essbebe,

I have got this new promotional plan ULD 750 CS7. I got it configured and checked the speed in Telephone Exchange through Wired and Dataone.in site . The speed was 1.67 Mbps. At home , in wireless it ranges from 1 Mbps to 1.7Mbps through various sites like Dataone.in , Mccafee , etc.

Is this normal in BSNL? Do we get these 2Mbps speeds?

    @marlon

Depends on line conditions and distance from Exchange.
and the number of users ( contention ratio )in one gateway.

How there is so much difference in speeds in 750 plan(speed should be 512kbps)
Isn't this discrimination in india again?

This is a Promotional offer in Chennai circle only ( due to severe competition from AIRTEL Tikona/WI5 etc ) for NEW customers as well as Upgrade to existing users, so that they don't switch to other ISP's.
Also may be :need to achieve some target for F/Y 2011-2012!!

Chennai and Kolkata are unlucky not to get MTNL even after being Metros. MTNL's plans are kind of giveaways when compared to BSNL's.

Delhi being the capital always gets preferential treatment in all matters and indirect subsidy to the Horde of Babus there.
( compare Petrol diesel prices )

Mumbai: Considered the Financial Capital, also gets same special facilities and indirect subsidies.

Kolkata : Even if MTNL is formed , result will be same !!!

Chennai/ formed separate circle ( to avoid MTNL formation and shows profit)
by forming Loss making areas ( like rural telephones BB etc) as TamilNadu circle.Rest of Tamil Nadu not benefited.

Chennai is developing at a good rate. Whatever people say about Karunanidhi, he did a lot of favourable things for the city and its development by bringing a lot of top establishments and made them set up manufacturing units. Chennai is the one of the best automobile manufacturing areas in India and considering that automobile manufacturing is shifting to India at a good pace, Chennai has a good role to play.
