    You can try this too

Use "Idle time out" option in your pppoe mode. Set it to 1 minute. When your computer start and try to downloading then your router auto sign in to BSNL and start downloading. Try to set your computer auto shut down in 2 minutes before night unlimited finish time. After your computer shut down and there is no data flow and so your router goes disconnect from your ISP after 1 minute because of the "Idle time out". First you have to check this option "Idle time out" is working good in condition in your router, because some router does not work good with this option.

I tried Idle time out, its not working.. the connection is not dropped after the minutes set.

Sadly, I dont have DHCP and UpnP options in modem mode.

I guess its fine. What I am doing now is, I have created a backup file for both modem + router and modem only settings. When I want to download in the night, all I have to do is restore with the .cfg file and in the morning, restore with the modem+router cfg file. it takes about a minute for the modem to reboot.

Thanks again essbebe for all the help.

I have a small problem. Whenever I put the router+modem in modem only mode, I am not able to access the 192.168.0.1 of netgear.

All I get is page cannot be displayed. I am able to connect to the internet without any problems with the dialer.

Also, the LAN icon in system tray says limited connectivity.

I have cleared cookies, cleared caches, restarted my system, restarted the router. Nothing.

I have to do a hard reset on the router to access the admin page and switch to modem+router mode.

Any ideas as to how I can fix it?

It will be redirected to modem status page. that's not a problem.

I will be able to access it for a few more minutes. The problem starts when I restart the system or hibernate it (I am still figuring it out)

I put the router in modem mode, I hibernate my comp. The computer starts at 2, downloads and then shuts down at 8. When I start the system after 8, I wont be able to access it. I have to do a hard reset to get router again.

sorry for the delay in response. Was busy with something.

I have figured out that if I switch my modem to "Modem only" mode and the use my dialer to connect to internet, and then hibernate my system, I am not able to access the 192.168.0.1 page.

But If i switch to Modem only mode, switch off the modem, hibernate the system and the switch on the modem so that I can download it during happy hours, I am able to access the admin page.

I am not sure what the problem is but this seems very wierd problem. As long as I dont hibernate when connected to internet, everything seems to work fine.

Thanks for the Update. Mention OS used. Any "Sleep" option ? ( Windows 7)

Do you use wifi mode after changing over to Modem+router mode ?

Will wait for other user's comments.

    WindowsXP (*SP3)
Check in Network settings on top ethernet card & wifi card
    Configure/: Advanced/ Power Management.
Whether the button has been enabled.
