Default Netgear N150 DGN1000 in Bridge mode

    Hi,

I have a BSNL limited connection. I use night 2-8 unlimited usage to download youtube videos. I use a software to start my PC at 2 AM and start downloading and then stops the pc at 8 AM. With my previous modem provided by BSNL, I had bridged the connection and so I used to connect at 2 and disconnect at 8 using a dial-up. All the usage was not charged.

With the new modem, i had to configure it as PPPoE. Its always connected when its on. BSNL have a bug in their data calculation. If the modem is ON and connected to Internet from say 1 45 to 2 15 AM, the data usage calculation is not computed correctly. It takes the usage after 2 and puts it in chargeable data i.e. before 2.

So now, when I use my software to download, the downloaded data during unlimited usage is charged under chargeable usage, even though my system was OFF during that time.

I was wondering, like my old BSNL modem, is there a way to configure Netgear N150 in bridge mode?

I have unchecked the Advanced -> WAN Setup -> Connect Automatically, as required option.

In basic Connection, i have chosen the, Yes, requires a login option.

When i start the modem, it still connects on its own.

I gave the username as userid@dataone.in in basic settings, its not connecting to internet anymore. I have a red LED for internet

    Option 1 :
[quote]its not connecting to internet anymore.I have a red LED for internet[quote]
YES : Adv Options WAN button unchecked.

    Use your dialer to connect.

    Option 2 :
    Change to NO.
Keep Adv Options WAN first button unchecked.
    Use Dialer.
    Feedback.

    Option 1,

I kept the required to login option as YES, gave the details in basic settings and Apply. Login i have provided only the userid and no "@dataone.in" In WAN setup, the connect automatically was unchecked.

The internet is already connected. No change. I didnt have to use the dialer.

    Option 2

I kept the required to login option as NO, gave the details in basic settings and Apply. In WAN setup, the connect automatically was unchecked.

I used my Dialer, which was the same with my previous modem, to connect.

The dialer just says "Connecting thorugh WAN mini port (PPPoE)" does not connect. The internet LED is RED.

Do not enter ID/PW in Netgear modem/router pages. keep PPPoE.

Check connection status page in the router.

Check HELP in Basic settings page.

If OS used is Windows 7 try "diagnose" for the LAN connection.

Do you have the old ADSl modem in working condition. ?

If i select PPPoE, i have to enter login information. Netgear wont let me apply the changes. it throws an error.

As for ADSL settings, Multiplexing Method is LLC-Based, VPI is 0, VCI is 35, DSL mode is auto

The old ADSL modem was from BSNL, rental basis. I have returned it.

If i choose, required to login as NO, then yes, i can leave the login and password field blank. But then I cannot connect using the dialer or automatically.

I am not sure what I need to do with the link you have provided.

I have given, Get Dynamically From ISP for IP.

I have chosen both Modem + Router in the link that u have provided

REstore your original PPPoE settings . SAVE or Back up settings to your Hard disk. ( likely to forget different settings )
    MODEM MODE
The three screenshots show that your wifi AP is disabled. and connected.
Could you use your Wan miniport dialer to connect ?
( In earlier basic settings answer Yes was selected ? )
When "Modem only " was selected did you get a new menu page or was redirected to basic settings ? what was the instruction/s on the help page ?
    2.
    MODEM+ROUTER
Try modem + router. If Basic settings page opens YES.
try dialer . post screen shots.
    3.
I tried giving the IP address, no luck.
where ? in which menu page ? this shows you are connected PPPoE mode ???

    ADSL settings OK:

I am able to connect!!!!! The internet LED does not glow though. Even though my WI-FI devices are able to recognize the network, they are not able to connect

( In earlier basic settings answer Yes was selected ? )
When "Modem only " was selected did you get a new menu page or was redirected to basic settings ? what was the instruction/s on the help page ?

I was redirected to Modem Status page. [screenshot 1 in the last post]

All i get is a modem status help.

    Code:
    Modem Status Help

Congratulations. appreciate the nice feedback ( with screen shots )you gave to enthuse me to find a solution. I think this is the first time this "Dialer" problem has been raised in this forum ,and search in Google got the "hidden" menu page.

You may click the Scale icon . in my post.
Usually I don't get rep points from
new member/s (less than 15 posts ) only comments recorded.
need this , so that I can access this thread faster at a later date/in future.

    2.
You may post screen shot of the modem+router menu page.
Even though my WI-FI devices are able to recognize the network,
they are not able to connect
Enable DHCP and try. ( also UpnP if available )
