I am also currently on the 750rs 512 plan. I wanted faster speed and low latency connection. For the same now i have gone for airtel as its better in these terms, i am going to use the bsnl for downloading and airtel for surfing and watching stuff online.

BSNL is not good for online gaming. If speed is troubling you, you can switch to another plan and solve the issue, but for ping, I am afraid, you will have to live with it. It was discussed many times before and no one was able to give a good solution to get better pings.

As a last resort, try talking to SDE of your exchange and see if he has any suggestions.

i am going to use the bsnl for downloading and airtel for surfing and watching stuff online.

Surfing is as good as Airtel in BSNL. Not sure if YouTube performs well in Airtel. Have heard that Airtel has their own cache for YouTube for better results. Could be a rumour though.

Care explain this part ? I have BSNL UL 750 and gets around 60 - 70 KBps all the time of promised 64 KBps. Upload speed is 60 + KBps in most cases. For same speed, Airtel charges more and has a much lower FUP. The line conditions may be certainly on a higher side compared to BSNL.

Airtel doesn't have better speeds. Their plans are costlier; they have FUP and even when everything is perfect latency is higher than bsnl by about 35-50ms for anything outside india.

However that been said connection quality, chance of outages; routing congestion issues, frequent route changes (and accompanying congestion issues/packet drops), packet loss in general, jitter are all much much worse on BSNL than airtel.

With BSNL every single day, there will be at least 1 time or more when your connection will go down the drain.

    airtel has horrible routing.
If you want to play on any server outside with airtel good luck. I recently switched from airtel to bsnl cause bsnl has better ping, i play on a EU server and with airtel i used to get 380ms cause traffic is routed through singapore instead of seawan cables like the rest of the country, bsnl has 180ms, from my home to mumbai to EU.

Airtel is good , but i like BSNL not bad really , I have High configured PC and truely man i never feel LAG with BSNL , the main thing is whatever Internet you take Ping will be over 200 + for USA / European servers , i guess Ping matters with distance too , But if you take High end plan from private datacentres then you can get better Pings , But i would suggest you to upgrade your PC first . I have Sabertooth 990fx Board and 12 GB DDR3 with AMD FX 8150 Bulldozer series . Truely brother i never feel a pin of lag when i pay Crysis / MW3 with 4x Antilising , PC config also matters for Online Gaming , BSNL is not bad for Online gaming , I play Crysis / CS / CSS / MW3 / MW2 / BlackOPs , for Indian servers my Pings stays within 100 and for other country 250 - 280 . Always remember No other company will provide FUP like BSNL and secure Bill means no cheating in BSNL billings . Also do Port forwarding with your Router and i suggest get a CISCO LINKSYS Router its really good

i had this problem in beginning too here is the soln
it usually happens because your modem works as a router and the PC ports are closed even though the main ISP ports are open what i did was
went to Internet Protocol TCP/IP properties set up a static address then in the configuration page at 192.168.1.1 i set up the portforward for that ip address
