Always Divide by 8 with the total Bandwidth and that will be the Download speed .

    2048 Kbps / 8 = 256kbps should be Download speed .

This speed you will get if you use IDM [ Internetdownloadmanager ]

See. I have to go about in a round about manner to find out ,
your method of connecting to Internet.Post No 19/7,23,25,30
    http://s7.postimage.org/z4ibtsdij/ipconfig.jpg
You are using "Dialer" ( Bridged" mode )
Using an external dialer to connect to Internet.

    2.
in WAN page of modem uncheck button "bridged"
    3. Select PPPoE button Next
    4. Enter/store your userId/PW in modem WAN page.
    Save reboot.

    Feedback.

    Create a PPPoE client connection
You can install the PPPoE client just like you install any other dial-up networking connection. To create a PPPoE client connection, follow these steps:

Congratulations . confirm you used Huawei AX Mt882 modem.
What is the need for same model ? Huawei AX MT 882.
Very old modem supplied by BSNL , mostly, and discontinued now.
You can try in your Exchange. They may charge Rs 1100/+ Taxes.
Performance trouble free not guaranteed. specially the ON/OFF switch.

I agree. Mine still working ( except for the on/off switch ). You will notice that now a days no query raised about this modem.

    (A)
You can try Beetel 220BX or Beetel 450BXI ( with wireless )
or Dlink DSL 2520U ( same as above) and Dlink dsl 2730U ( wifi model )
based on UTSTARWA3002_g4 group ( same hardware board )
    or

(B)Beetel 110TCI group, ( based on Utstar wa 3002_g1) more than 15 modems/wifi routers. same type > Minor additional facilities.

For a single desktop use in LAN mode any ADSl modem will do.
Unless you are planning to buy a laptop with wifi, routers are needed.
Detail your surfing requirements and speed of your present connection.
or you want to establish wifi internet availability for great distance say
80 feet radius and height 1st floor to 4 th floor etc.

This thread already bloated with 49 posts, and now i don't like "Antakshri"
method ( answering only Latest post )or make this thread your "Blog" for all your queries.
Later date when some one accesses this thread, will not get the information he wants or will have to read all 50 posts to find the answer to the the thread title topic.
Please open NEW thread or Click Archive ( for BSNL Forum ) in bottom of Page ) for old thread with your subject query, if available. Thanks.

PS; As "moderator" in some other forums, I try to change the thread
    title/s where possible.
