    Default Modem Problem Type II

    Hi,

    I have BSNL TYPE 2 ADSL 2+ CPE/IAD Modem. In my modem, only power light glows up. Apart from that nothing is glowing. I checked the connections and it was also correct.

    I once clicked the WIFI button. And I mistakenly gave the DSL link to VOIP once. Then I changed the connection but no its not working.

    Can anyone tel what would be the problem.

    If modem/wifi router is on Rental basis , try to exchange , or get it tested at BSNl office.
    Even if purchased outright, ( within a year it may be replaced.
    Take both the power adapter and router. . to Exchange BB section.

    Para two ;
    Modem suspected faulty.
    ( Also check both the Rj11 and rj45 cables.)

    After entering 192.168.1.1 Id admin PW admin
    Can you access the router menu pages ?

    Mention details of your VOIP unit. ( provider)

    Feedback.

    Only power light will glow if there in no link, no powered on PC and WiFi disabled. Enable WiFi (log into modem) and see if there is any difference.

    Normally wrong input won't affect the modem. You can borrow one from your friends and check if it is a modem issue.

    Ya thanks for ur reply...

    @essbebe

    Ya I checked with the BSNL ppl. They said te modem s gone and i need to get a new one.
    I was not able to access the 192.168.1.1

    @meetdilip

    Ya I checked with my old type1 modem and its running fine.

    I doubt why these BSNL modem are running out soon? My type1 lasted for two years and type2 for one year.
    In type1 modem DSL was not static, it was flickering. Now I changed the power cord and it is working fine. I used power cord of type2 to type1 modem?

    (1)
    Your old type modem : give model make/number Working Ok.

    (2)
    TYPE 2 ADSL 2+ CPE/IAD Modem seems wifi also give model name /number.
    USE RESET and then try to access the modem menu settings.?
    May be tried /used as a switch and in wifi mode

    (3) Better to buy a standalone wifi router.

    I used power cord of type2 to type1 modem?
    Check what is marked voltages on the adapters? usually 9V or 12 V D.C
    should not affect type 1.

    My old modem is UT300R2U and its power rating is 10V. I have used a power adapter with power rating as 12V. Actually my UT300R2U had a problem ie the modem will automatically restarts and after changing the power adapter, its fine now.

    Is it fine to user the power adapter with 12V where as in the modem it is given 10V?

    My type II modem isAR800V v3.0. Ya I tried to reset and use. But even that was not working. Only power light glows up. This modem lasted only for 15 months. So this modem is of no use right?

    Hi,
    I feel that it is not proper to use a 12 v adapter with a 10v rating modem.If it is the other way no problem as in my case.my DNA A211 -1 type 2 modem failed due to voltage surege in BSNL line.It was replaced with a VMC AN1020-21 type 2 modem whose rating was 12v.But it's adapter plug didnt have the red LED.So I chose to retain the old adapter of 10 V with LED lamp.The modem is now working fine.I am based in Mysore.

    Take it to BB section and get it tested or for an exchange.
    ( sometimes BSNL may/can replace the model even if purchased outright.)

    2. You may not be getting proper 12V DC due to low power AC
    input. say 200VAC.Test in an electrician's shop.
    Or the power regulator inside the modem IC7805can take DC upto 32V and give steady/regulated 5V to other IC s etc.
    and bring it down to 5V.
