    Default Router/Modem reset problem

Hello. I have the modem of BSNL Broadband DNA-A211-I which I think is a dlink modem. Recently, my sister resetted the router/modem by inserting a pin from behind to press the button. Ever since then, whenever I turn my modem on, it has been showing INET light active and it normally never used to be on. Also, while INET light is active, I cannot connect to the internet.

I tried to turn the modem on and quickly connect before INET light turned on and it worked, I could connect. But soon as I disconnected, INET light turned back on and I was unable to connect. I kept getting the message upon dialing "The phone line is busy." I have no clue how to stop INET light from turning on unless I am quick enough to connect to net soon as DSL light is stable.

    Please help. Thanks.

DNA A211-I is based on UTSTARWA3002-g4/Beetel 450TXI etc
same hardware board. ( Changes/deletions in FW/ SW possible )
    Recent additions Dlink DSL 2520U/DSl2750U/DSL2730U
    see link below:

    http://www.indiabroadband.net/attach...1&d=1325128950

    (a)
    Confirm mode of connection.
    Dialer Mode or
PPPoE ("alwayson') UserId/PW stored in modem/router WAN page.

    (b)
Confirm you can check modem menu pages and make changes.

    (c))
Details Lamp indication Confirm if similar..
    Para two:

Power : Power LED will glow as soon as you switch on the modem.

DSL: DSL LED will blink first and then settle permanently in yellow, if the connectivity between the modem and the exchange broadband equipment is perfect and established.

Internet: Internet LED will glow when you are connected to the internet.

WLAN: WLAN LED will glow if wireless is enabled in your modem.

If the connectivity between your modem and computer is OK, two LEDs on either side of the LAN socket will glow in the back panel of your modem.

    (a) I have to use "Connect to" option but it's PPPoE because when I try to connect it says it's connecting to PPPoE.

    (b) I can check modem menu pages but I don't know how to make changes. http://192.168.1.1/

Power light turns on soon as I switch modem on.

DSL light flickers when I turn it on but soon turns stable/set and then I can connect. It is stable now.

Internet or INET I am guessing? Well right now it's off and it's why I am able to log on. If my INET light is active, I cannot log on. Soon as I disconnect, INET light will turn on and I wont be able to log back on internet unless I restart modem and quickly connect before INET light turns on.

    WLAN is active.

One of the Ethernet LED's are also on, the fourth socket where I have connected the wire to.

From left to right, these are the LED's of my modem:

    Ethernet PWR INET DSL WLAN

see Picture of modem/router to identify LED's.
    1 2 3 4 will glow when Rj45 ports LAN1 LAN2 LAN3 LAN4 are used.
    USB Port rarely used.

    (a) Presume NO changes were tried after the router was RESET.
This means you are on "bridged" Default setting (dialer Mode) and entering UserId/PW externally to connect.

See the corner icon in Taskbar, left of LS icon ( windows 7) I get connected automatically .
    confirm.

    (b)
    In browser
Enter 192.168.1.1 Id admin PW admin
    Go to Management
    Settings
    SAVE or Backup
Save to C:/My Documents/DNA212 working now

The LEDs are same as mine except for I don't have USB LED.

    I saved the backupsettings.conf file but I don't have the C:/My Documents/DNA212.

Please EDIT and delete Full quote. Not needed immediately, and avoidable scrolling.

    I saved the backupsettings.conf file but I don't have the C:/My Documents/DNA212 .
Ok. Hope you know the location/file/folder in Hardsdisk to restore the settings. later.

Delete the link given. Your login idPW seen. Download and save to your Hard disk. If connection is lost you cannot access the link.
Appears you are On PPPoE mode "always On"
Also delete all other info other than top 5 or 6 as posted by me.

    Para two:
Good connection, and appears you are very near the Exchange.
    Line conditions are very good.
    Model Name: DNA-A211-I
    Mode: ADSL2+
    SNR Margin (dB): 33.0 15.8
    Attenuation (dB): 8.5 6.8
If you Uncheck adsl2 + button in Advanced options DSL menu
a stable connection possible. Attainable rate will reduce.
SAVE REBOOT wait for 2 minutes.

Hope you enjoy your Internet surfing, and don't blame your sister now. !!

As an elder sister myself, I don't blame my younger sister for everything

But yea, is there anyway for me to stop INET LED from starting so I can connect to internet? Right now I am connected and INET LED is off only because I connected right after restarting my modem on, that is, soon as my DSL LED became stable and fully active. INET LED turns on 3-4 seconds after DSL LED becomes active and I only get 3-4 seconds to connect after starting my modem before it becomes unable to connect.

EDIT: Ok, let me try it.

Nope. It doesn't work. I did what you asked me to.

Unchecked ADSL2+ and then went into management for SAVE REBOOT. Closed all browsers and waited for 2 minutes. When DSL LED became stable, INET LED turned on again 4 seconds later and I was again unable to reconnect. I had to restart modem and then connect right after DSL LED became fully active.

Also, ADSL2+ box got checked on it's own too.

    @ varunashiki

It seems your modem mode is PPPoE and you are trying to connect using dialer which is not required.

Can you leave the modem ON for 2 minutes (do nothing on PC), take a browser and check if internet is ON ? Don't use dialer.

    Feedback.

Nope. It doesn't connect unless I dial. I left modem on for 5 minutes with browsers closed, then I tried to surf and it kept telling me to connect.

How do you connect to internet ? Cable or WiFi ? When not using dialer for say 5 minutes, what is the status of the connection ? Which OS do you use ?

Cable based broadband. When I try to connect, this is what it says "Connecting to WAN miniport (PPPoE)" and then it connects. I will take 2 screenshots to demonstrate connected and disconnected states soon. I gotta go out for a bit to grab my car now. I will be back soon guys, please stick around and I really appreciate all your help!

Oh and, my OS is Windows XP Pro.

Do not try dialer now. Switch off and ON the modem, leave it as such for 3 minutes, go to control panel > network connections

See the local area connection icon and see the status. Post the screen shot or described the same.

Log into modem, see an entry like " LAN " or similar in the modem menu. You will see and VPI/VCI 0/35 entry. Post a screen shot or describe what you see.

    @meetdilip
From modem backup file. ( Link given earlier but deleted now )
    pppsrv_0_35>
    <ppp_conId1 userName="multiplay" password="bXVxxxxxxxx" (*edited)serviceName="dataone"
It appears , the ISP is BSNL and the User ID stored in Modem "multiplay"
Once this is changed to users Personal ID and with the PW allotted,
there wont be a need to use Dialer mode.
User to select Link 0_35 EDIT Next vpi/vci 0 and 35 PPPoE button On
Wan page, Change UserID from "Multiplay" to XXXXXXXXXX
Pass word as given by BSNL
    next next save reboot etc.
    Await feedback.

    http://i42.tinypic.com/35b6xz6.jpg
This is when it's connected to internet after using Start>Connect To option.

    http://i39.tinypic.com/msivd1.jpg
    This is the disconnected state.

While thw INET LED hasn't been eleminated, the problem has been solved. I can connect to internet with INET LED on, which means, I no longer have to dial to connect. Thanks a lot guys! MUCH appreciated.
