    Default pppoe mode not working

I have a bsnl type-II modem (ZXDSL 531B) with wifi.

a few days back my modem stopped working and the error was "unable to resolve server's DNS address"

now, i have been told by the BSNL guys that "the modem is only working in Bridge mode and not in the PPPoE mode".

Because of this i am unable to use the Wifi....

Is there any solution to the problem??...i have tried restoring it to fatory settings and then connectingagain bt its not working in PPPoE mode..

    Pls Pls help me out...

I have a bsnl type-II modem (ZXDSL 531B) with wifi.

    How old is it ?

now, i have been told by the BSNL guys that "the modem is only working in Bridge mode and not in the PPPoE mode".

Does it work fine in bridge ?

May be it is repairable. Take to a local technician who is good in electronics or some BSNL person who can fix it (go to exchange).

If that too doesn't work (and settings were ok) you will need to buy a new equipment.

hi, thanx a lot for replying so quickly...

as i mentioned in the first post that my initial problem was the error message "unable to resolve server's dns" i went into the ip settings and changed the dns setting from obtain automatically to use the following:
    preferred: 208.67.222.222
    alternate: 208.67.222.220

now although it is working in the pppoe mode on the system that is connected via ethernet cable..i still cant use my wi-fi on my cellphone and ipod etc...

    i am completely confused now....

it is working in the pppoe mode on the system.......
    (ZXDSL 531B) with wifi.
    IN Advanced Options LAN page
Enable DHCP. give a range say 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.10
IF UpnP button is seen enable it ( usually in wan page )

if your model wireless page has button Enable it. enter ssid security code etc.
    SAVE Reboot.

Confirm SSID as entered by you appears in Phone .

Are you using Desktop or Laptop ? Presume userID/PW no problem.

    Feedback.

    192.168.1.2 to 192168.1.254
    2. Upnp is enabled
    3. enabled wi-fi
    4. obtaining the ssid in mobile

Query: Changin the dns address wouldnt cause any sort of problem with bsnl, right??

    Mobile connected in WIFI mode
confirm Phone is working in wifi mode and you access Internet and surf.now.
DNS google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and opendns 208.67.220.220
and 208.67.222.222 used extensively now. No problems.

If you are particular BSNL DNS only to be metered in modem
let us know. mention your location.
