Thread: WiFi Modem For BSNL Broadband connection

Hello everyone,

I am subscribing to BSNL Broadband (preferably 750 UL COMBO). I am looking for wifi modem since bsnl officewalas told me to buy one & they don't have any to sell or rent.

I am going through models. Below two are most relevant & compatible I found. Please confirm if they'll work with BSNL. I can do the configuration myself.

Just not sure because difference in price of these 2 models. Can anybody help me out on it or suggest even better option ?

(1)If you have an adsl modem connected and working
a stand alone wifi router like Netgear wgr614 will do. .

I think I will go with Dlink DSL 2730U.

Asus DSL N10 Modem is the best Wi Fi modem. Easy to setup and with 5dbi Antenna you can access your modem in 100 Meeter of radius. And it cost from Rs. 2500 (in My city it cost 2900). I am using this modem since last 6 months on BSNL BB with UL499 plan. It works flawlessly with Not only BSNL but all other ADSL service Providers. It has preinstalled all the ADSL service provider's settings. Just connect the telephone line. Modem recognize the setting and company and assign automatically settings to the device. You have to enter UN and PW only.

I have a BSNL wireless connection with antenna - since the last 5 years. I would like to convert this into WiFi 3G. I am told by some technically savvy people in the industry that it it is possible to do so. However, I am not able to find anybody at my BSNL exchange (Neelangarai, Chennai) who can advise me whether this is feasible and if so, how to go about it.

Briefly It cannot become 3 G wifi ( speed wise )

You can try to have wifi mode to use other laptops systems like cellphone etc.
mention the present service EV-D0 WLL etc and speed.
Confirm No Landline based telephone line is provided in your area by BSNL. Neelangarai area has developed fast during past 5 years.

Yesterday I purchased Asus DSL N10 wifi modem on E-bay for rs. 2500/-. Can you pl tell me which PCI adapter card you are using with this modem. I have desktop at my home and I need to connect the modem via WiFi.

Forget Imran's helper for the present.
Check this link and use the settings.

Get connected to Internet in PPPoE ( alwaysOn) mode.
(userid/PW stored in WAN page of modem.
Confirm LAN working.
Confirm WIFI mode working.
