Thread: How to Change to Wifi modem

Can anyone tel me how to change to Wifi modem. I already have bsnl connection and currently using ADSL modem - ZXDSL 831A II.

I contacted bsnl office. They told that i should buy from outside. Which is the best one to buy?

Now i use desktop connection. So after changing to wifi, are there options for using desktop too ?

How good is linksys? i have decided to get new wifi modem instead of just the router. Is it worth?

If your budget allows it. Anyway wifi router Only costs approx Rs 1400/= onwards.
Which is the model you selected and its cost ?

Main point is : WIFI range around the house /flat/different floors
/height/ obstructions etc.
Usually a radius of activity approx 20 to 30 feet ( same plane ) possible.
Else buy a model with a higher gain Antenna 5 dBi ( part of router )
or a detachable antenna model to add improved antenna.
Models with multiple antennae can be considered.

Buying ONLIne or from local computer shops.?

My use is basically at home and i ll be using it in ground floor and first floor of my home.

linksys Antenna gain is less. First floor ground floor working may not be possible.
Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH ONLY a wifi router.

Check Tp link 3 in one models . i think TP link TD W 8101G with 5 dBi antenna will be suitable
for a lower priced model you can buy the antenna later ( Rs 500 approx )

We have to change the wifi moderm into pc or laptop. We have connect to moderm of broadband connection.BSnl moderm to connect with the wifi moderm then only access....

Mention your tariff plan and speed expected 512 Kbps 1 Mbps 2 Mbps etc.
Check speed in LAn mode and wifi mode
