From device info or connection status
get the hardware version and software version.
Please mention. the details and the need for FW upgrade.
You are likely to make the modem USELESS by trying FW upgrade.

Device Information (Square) UT300r2U
Firmware Version: R1.00B02.3AS.BS
Are you using the USB port ? Gateway 192.168.1.2 ?
Firmware upgrade NOT required.
Convention : Modem/router ip address 192.168.1.1 LAN access
USB port access 192.168.1.2
System computer address usually starts with 192.168.1.3 onwards
Step 1 :
Since you are going to make changes in the modem menu
1.Go to menu page and under Tools select Backup
Save current modem settings to a file in your Hard disk.
Step 2:
Select HOME WAN PPPoA/PPPoE or PPPoE and
enter userID/PW in modem page.etc.
similar page; for reference; vpi/vci 0 and 35 for BSNL
Save REBOOT.
switch off modem .
Step 3 :
Restart modem.
You should connect to Internet automatically in PPPoE ( "always On ') mode.
