Thread: Netgear N150 DGN1000 "timed out"

Hi,

I purchased a Netgear N150 DGN1000 wireless router today and connected it to my bsnl broadband line. When I connect my Laptop via LAN it works flawlessly.

But, any wireless connection is eventually timed out. I reset the router and evrythings back to normal.

I tried pinging google with mostly timed out results. Initially it atleast shows a ping 70... moves to >1000 within 30 secs and then after a while completely times out with no reversion until connection is reset.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check the Channel number selected . usually Ch 11 or Ch 6.
Also the mode Select 802g mode.
Check settings in your wireless lan card also. ( power saver?)
Position the unit at a higher height. for better signal pickup.
Mention OS used.

Channel is Auto.
Mode: there are 3 options.. b ang g.. upto 65 mbps.. upto 150 mbps. mine is selected 150.
wlan is normal<no powersave>
Signal is 5/5
OS win 7 x64 home premium
laptop lenovo y570
512kbps UL

lan mode speed: 534 kbps dload 382 kbps upload
wlan mode: it got stuck on preparing download test...
pinging google on wlan shows 1 active connection every 3 timeouts.
by the time " download test error.... unable to prepaer download file"

Select lower value B & G Region Asia ?
From auto go to Manual and select channel 11.
Check in Connection status Channel selected.

B & g, Asia, Channel 11, status checked. Connection a hell lot better. Still timing out. its rare when sitting next to the router but as soon as i move into the next room it gets pretty bad. as in 5 time outs per 4 active connections.
PS: signal strength also drops from 5/5 to 3/5 in that room...
Edit 2: Even when sitting next to the router the connection ping is spiking a lot to 200...

Check antenna is properly screwed. Put in a higher height.
Place unit parallel to ground and rotate for max signal at distant location.
Radiation pattern figure of 8 .meaning maximum 180 degrees opposite
sides.

check advanced wireless settings also.

In all laptops wlan card check Power selected FULL.
Wlan network page on top configure advanced transmit power full
Minimum 30 feet radius of activity expected ( with obstructions )

Placement improves pings in other rooms. Thanx a ton for solving my problem. Made my day! Although still cant find the power options in either places...

On top button for Wlan card
Click configure
Next page
Click Advanced.
scroll for transmit power.
mention wlan card particulars. Try drivers update if needed.

Check found it right there. Was selected 5<highest>. Its a Intel Wifi Link 1000BGN. btw roaming aggressiveness is set to 3<medium>. and 802.11n channel width for band 2.4 is selected as 20 MHz Only.
EDIT: Drivers are latest.
