Default PPPoE dialer not working but internet is connected

I have BSNL Dataone Broadband connection on a Windows XP PC . The modem is Huawei WA3002-g1. The PC had a virus problem sometime back after which the windows partition had to be formatted.

Now the Internet is being shown as connected, ping is working, but browser can't browse the web in Windows xp. I am also using Ubuntu Linux in another partition the same computer and there broadband is working fine.

    Please help.

    TEST
Disable "1483 Bridged" In Internet page . Select PPPoE etc.
    SAVE. Reboot from current settings.

    Thanks for your reply.

I did as advised by you. Now web can be browsed . Broadband is being accessed through the LAN dialer itself . PPPoE dialer is not working . It shows Error 678. I would prefer connecting to the internet with a PPPoE dialer and have a separate dialer for LAN. Is there a way it could be made to work ? Please advise.

Since your ID/PW stored in modem/router Dialer will not work.
Presume system connects automatically to Internet now. No dialing needed.
If you need Dialer mode use another modem. set for "bridged " mode
Error 678 . remote server did not respond.
    1.
    Mention OS
    2.
In firmware Page select SAVE current settings to ROM file ( to Hard disk )
    3.
Reset modem in 1483Bridged mode( Only Change in Internet page)
    SAVE Try again.
    4.
CHeck Diagnostics Page. Post only error setting.

    5
    .Also Copy/Paste ipconfig /all
    when in Dialer mode.

    Para two:
    for NU auto schedule downloads
type Pcgyan in search box for an auto scheduler

Will the current modem no longer work in bridge mode so that Dialer can be used ? In case something goes wrong with the BSNL BB connection the technical people at BSNL ask for the error code ( eg Error 678 - remote computer did not respond ) and this code is displayed by the PPPoE Dialer only and not the LAN dialer.

The OS is Windows XP SP3.

You CANNOT set Both "Bridged" mode and "PPPoE" mode in SAME modem for line 0_35 VPI/VCI 0 and 35 for BSNL.

The OS is Windows XP SP3.
Do you get an ICON in Task bar for LAN dialer ? Do you click it to connect to Internet ?

Do you get this window in either mode ?

If it works in PPPoE "Always On" mode ( userid/PW stored/entered in modem), should work in "Bridged" mode also.
For this you have to again change settings in WAN page and try./test.
