Thread: Suggest me a good downloader software

I have BSNL UL750 broadband connection,

I use IDM for downloading files.

But I want a downloader that will download 1 by 1 task by its own. for example i gave 6 download files, d software download the first file n other will be in waiting list. When the first file download get completed it will go for second download.

Please suggest me.

Use queue in IDM. It has all you need.
Create a queue and set 1 download at a time.
To do this:
1. First select "Download Later" for all the files you want to download.
2. Open IDM panel and select all the queued downloads-
hit R-click>>Move to queue>>Create new queue.
Give it a name>>Select Download 1 file at a time and then click "Start Now".
And that is all.

Use Flashget its free and perfectly suited for your needs.

I am facing a new sort of problem via IDM.
When ever am downloading any file via IDM the max speed m geting is 25kbps.
The speed limit is turn off...
But when am downloading torrent file or downloading via morzilla i get 57kbps download speed.

Did you changed any settings in IDM for your previous problem?
Check IDM>Options>Connections>Download Limits
Download any simple program like vlc and check speed.

Try a different download manager such as DAP..Flashget etc..

is flashget really very secure downloader??

I would recommend DAP....it ranks second after IDM..

IDM gives me a few KBs more download speed than other download managers....

when i say i dont use flashget, i have my own reasons...

interestingly, wiki gave the stuff which i was looking for.

And i hate people(my friends ) using any other downloading software and praising it..moreover comparing it with IDM saying their software is better. grrrrrr !!

a software that leaves traces like trojan and malware on your comp cannot be better at all even if it gives good speed.. bcos safety must be the prime importance..

You can easily get your 64 KB/s without segmenting the files. Whether you use idm or firefox's inbuit download manager, speed will be the same. For people living in countries like sweden or netherland where they get ridiculously high speed, diving the file into segments and downloading helps. And by the way idm shows a bit more KBs than the actual speed. I don't really know why but it has something to do with how they calculate the speed. Try checking in some bandwidth meter idm will give the same speed as others. Personal I use idm not because it gives better speed but because it has more features and has a way better interface.

use flashget 1.73 build 128.it is considered by many as the last good working version of flashget.just during install untick the share url option & during 1st launch if pc is connected to net an update option comes up.select no & don't remind again or manually disable update in settings & you are good to go.i prefer flashget over idm because it downloads all parts in a single file unlike IDM which downloads different segments of file separately & then joins them in the end.this way if something happens & download gets cancelled/corrupted it can be resumed in a torrent.i have completed many interrupted/corrupted downloads this way by resuming through torrents just downloading 10-20 mb in a 300-1000mb file.
