Lightbulb Ping Test for BSNL connection

    Hey Guys,

Could you help me determine some tests as i want to find out if there is really some issue with the connection I am having. I am having awful ping times to some of the game servers on my 4Mbps connection and I want to find out if this is all BSNL provides.

Here is the test could you post your ping times to the following IP

96.30.37.142 (this is ip to indiabroadband.net) - This should suffice the test i guess.

The below is only for people who dont know how to ping

    1. Goto Run command (Windows Key + R)
    2. Type cmd
    3. Type ping 96.30.37.142
    4. Wait for it to complete ( in windows by default it pings 4 times)
    5. Let me know the time=xxx value of your ping test.

While posting the results let me know your connection speed.

My tests show me these values

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    CONNECTION SPEED - 4Mbps
My current bandwidth reading is: 2.01 Mbps - Check here - http://karnataka.bsnl.co.in/bandwidt...itialmeter.php

Hmmm so far it looks like we have the same response time for 4 and a 2mbps connection. Some more data please so that we can analyze.

Ok, now i have used airtel broadband at my office to check this. the results are different here even though it is 2 mbps speed connection:

    here the time: 502ms.

Does this mean this connection is bad? higher the time, poorer the connection. right? pls educate me.

It looks like there is a problem in my connection speed now.

    Download : 827 kbps
    UPload: 129 kbps

Yes, this internet connection is shared with 4 users here. but normally i get 2 mbps speed even when everyone is browsing the internet. it looks like some one here is downloading something.

We have beetel 450TC1 wifi ADSL modem here. And the IP address is static IP.

If you feel that DNS changes have affected your speed,
Check speed in LAN mode. also.
If all are on wifi mode reduced speed possible.
Ask a colleague to check speed at same time same speed website.

Mention Firmware version of Beetel 450TCI
( open router settings check status device info )
If all are sharing same SSID . Try one ssid for your use !
