Question Will I have to pay one month's security if I change my plan?

Currently I'm on 500 Combo which doesn't have a security fee or 1 month advance fee.
Now if I change to 750 Combo or 625 Combo, will I have to pay the 1 month advance fee for these plans. Both of these need a security fee or advance payment of one month unlike my current plan.

You have to pay one month fee in advance. It will reflect in current month biill. (If you apply for plan change in Feb,Feb bill will have extra 750 or 625 to be paid depending upon plan)
and also initially bsnl takes 1000rs as security deposit.Out of which 500 for phone and 500 for Broadband. this applies even to 500 plan.
this is happen to me and to my friend ,both have been charged the same away.
Last month I changed to 1350 plan and they added 800 (1350-500=800) in last month bill.
If you have this amount paid at the time of installation of broadband, then you need to pay only additional , 125(for 625 plan) or 250 (for 750plan).,which will reflect in current month bill.

or you can manually pay the advance and get the plan changed after a written request in exchange.

Out of which 500 for phone and 500 for Broadband. this applies even to 500 plan.
    Free Installation for BB
    Free Installation for Telephone ?
    Instrument free ?
Security deposit for telephone calls Rs 500/= O.K
    Feedback.

Last month I changed to 1350 plan and they added 800 (1350-500=800) in last month bill.
ok, but why do I have to pay that installation fee again? I think you had to pay cause you changed from a standalone plan to a combo plan.

ok, so this is my current situation. I'm currently on combo 500 plan and have already paid all the fees related to instrument, installation, etc. But this plan didnt have a security deposit (same as advance monthly deposit) but the new combo plan I want to take has a security deposit. For 750 combo this fee is Rs750 and for 625 combo its Rs625. So if I apply in Feb, I pay at the rate of 500 combo for few days + rest of the month at the rate of 625 or 750 + exactly 625 or 750 as one month advance security + taxes right?
Do I have to pay again the installation fees as said by coolbuddyin?

If you have this amount paid at the time of installation of broadband, then you need to pay only additional , 125(for 625 plan) or 250 (for 750plan).,which will reflect in current month bill.
    I can't really understand this

    Free Installation for BB
    Free Installation for Telephone ?
    Instrument free ?
Security deposit for telephone calls Rs 500/= O.K
This wasn't asked to me but I think this is the fee structure.
BB installation free according to special scheme (guess its not valid now but was when I had applied)
Telephone installation: wasnt free for me
Instrument fee: Yeah they take this separately (I gave 500 for the rented modem + 50 every month for modem + another 50 for 5 months, maybe this was for telephone dunno)
    Local fee+STD fee = 250 or 500 don't remember.

and btw I'm currently on a combo plan and will change to another combo plan. Only difference between the 2 plans apart from download limit and free calls is the monthly charge and the security deposit
    500 combo: 500 monthly + 0 security deposit
    750 combo: 750 monthly + 1 month security deposit

EDIT: coolbuddyin, I looked at the first post of your thread. You changed from 500 combo to 1350 combo. Can you tell why exactly you had to pay the extra charge in your bill? I didn't completely understand how much extra you had to pay.
    Thanks
EDIT 2: I think you are mixing up security fee of the plan and the installation charges. 500Combo doesn't have a security fee.

    Now everything is messed up

essbebe, can you please tell me if I'm right in the second para (that is between the first 2 quotes). I'm really sorry if its mixed and is not understandable. I can write it up again if you want.

    @thehost
Irrespective of the date, on which you change to a higher tariff plan
( if you had not paid, any SECURITY charges one months BB rent , earlier )
You will be billed One Month's BB rent as Security Charges, .

Take some trouble to see all the details in link given.
    2.
Also on pro rata basis for different plans. usual monthly rent.
You can be also charged for excess download during day time. on pro rata basis.

Example You cannot download 1.5GB( month's quota) during day time say within 7 days ( under 500FN Combo ) 50MBper day+ FREE NU
and then change to an unlimited plan. on 8th. and claim above 1.5GB as free download !!
    3.
What is the reading in your self care portal now ?Chargeable units ( less Free NU) === ????

    2. I know this already
    3. 282 at 7:20 PM so, guess iam safe
    1. Combo 500 doesn't have an advance fee you can check in the link you gave. But the link says 750 combo needs me to pay advance fee of one month. Currently I'm on combo 500 and have cleared everything till last january' bill. I'm sure I have paid all the installation fee and everything (was a huge bill actually :P)
So, if I get the plan changed in feb I have to pay x days at the rate of 500 combo + (28-x)days at the rate of 750 combo + tax + security charge or advance fee of Rs 750. Is there anything else I have to pay? And do you know the percentage of tax? Does tax apply on the security fee or advance fee?

And what is the best way to change the plan? selfcare website or udaan website or should I call them. I have seen people who call them get their plan changed but portal shows something different and get erroneous bills. So please tell me the best way. And also see if I missed anything
    Thanks

If you mean greater than 500, then this actually relieves me a bit more. Thanks

Home combo 500 used to have one month advance rental. I took it in 2008 and the bill for the relevant month clearly indicates the deposit. so get your original bill out and check whether any such deposit/other charges had been added. if yes, then you would have to pay the differential deposit only.

This clears up a lot. When I took the 500 combo plan, the security deposit was already taken off of it. So I guess I will have to pay 750 for the security deposit.
This also clears up what coolbuddyin was trying to say.
    Many thanks.

Right now I'm trying to apply for the plan change from the selfcare portal but I'm getting an error.
I'm using my username that I use in rashdialer as the service id.

This is exactly correct point. Take the old bills and see the information regarding deposit . Initially I took home 500c plan(same plan is now called FN 500),i didnt remember whether it has one month rental as advance or not.
When i Changed to 500 to 1350,the difference amount is charged as deposit fee for me in January bill.

But my friend took connection two days back,he paid 1000 rs fee,the person who came for connection told that 1000rs is split into 500+500 and one 500 is for telephone deposit, one 500 for broadband deposit.
    Installation charges are zero.
Instrument i,e landphone and Modem to be arranged by owner.
In this context,i advised to check whether 500 is deposited or not. If there is no 500rs,you have to pay 750rs as advance(this 750 dont attract service tax)

enter you phone as service id : if you number is xxxx-xxxxxxx (std code-phone number)
if your std code is 0123 and phone 2345678
    then service id is 0123-2345678
then select the tick box next to service id column (selfcare has a problem for some connection that it doesnot allow to select the service ,we have to enter it manually), Hope you got the point ,then give request of broadband change

Bsnl cc people will call you to confirm this service request and the they place a order and it will be executed in less than a day

Thank you very much coolbuddyin. You're great
Just one more thing. Putting phoneno. as service id worked well but I still get two more errors. Please check this screenshot
    4.JPG
When I put my phone number, all the fields that I have hidden are automatically filled except 'service line'. When I click on the 'tick' at the right of my phone number, I get an error. Do I need to fill in the 'service line'? You can check the screenshot.
Next when I click on the 'tick' next to New Broadband Plan, I again get an error. So I manually filled it up with 'BB Home Combo ULD 750'. Is this ok?

For me it showing as service line : Landline

You have to manually change enter plan as "BB Home Combo ULD 750" without quotes

and also in the both summary and description columns enter as PLEASE CHANGE MY PLAN TO BB Home Combo ULD 750 and press submit.

you are done, you will receive a call from cc tomorrow as its late night

You can ignore service line,i guess

    I submitted the request finally
Only problem I see is when I click on it inside the check status option, it gives me an error. It does the same for all the items inside the 'check status' option. Maybe their system is broken.. just hope its registered successfully.
    Thank you

    2.
Any new user, in this Forum, if he had a tariff plan of 2007/2008/2009/2010/,
would not have asked for details about change of plan etc. So any definite answer "YES Security deposit was collected "
by other old users was likely to mislead the member.
Thanks everybody, for the information. from old records.

    @esbeebe
Actually a part of the confusion was that while the OP was on the newer plan [denoted by different plan name] he referred to it as 500 Combo, which is the plan name of the earlier plan.
That is why I specifically indicated the earlier situation. I think it helped clear the position for the thread starter.
