Default Pls help - low speed during 2.00 -8.00 unlimited in 500 Plan

    Hi All

i have been using Home 500 plan for the last six months and i am from Trivandrum,Kerala.
i have a UT 300R2U modem. and used to enjoy grt download speed about 160- 200 KB/s at night freetime.

since 2-3 weeks i have been getting very low speed about 40-60 kbps for download(torrents , direct downloads or even browsing) during the night Unlimitd time. its just like old dialup speed.

the moment 8.00 is past speeds are back to almost 2 Mbps.

i have tried utorrent, bitcomet annd azureus but results are always disappointing

    what should i do?

will reseting my modem help. i dont know how to configure it later . pls guide me.

i tried the site 192.168.1.1 and it was going to STARCOM site and not dataone. is it ok?

Please help me out from this problem

You have to open a port and assign the port number in your torrent client.

if u believe in conspiracy theories than i would say bsnl is throttling ur speeds during da nite UL so tat u cud nt dl much .. lol

and da reality could be that there may b too many users downloadin in ur area during da nite hrs[2.00 am to 8.00 am] and thus due to network congestion u r facing da prob of low speeds !!!

Just post ur bandwidth test results over here for us to examine [ both during nite ul and normal hrs]

And u need not open any port manually if u r able to download thru torrents normally during normal hrs

    Yes, "sharks_me" is right!

And u need not open any port manually if u r able to download thru torrents normally during normal hrs

If you are not able to download in the normal hours, then the issue is different. you need to open the port in your modem.

Post Me too -- low speed during 2 am - 8 am with Home 500

    hi

i too experience the same thing nowadays. it is not only for torrents, it is for all traffic. if bsnl throttle us during free hours then going for home 500 at the extra expense does not make sense.

BSNL Broadband service is expanding in new areas. I think due the increased number of connection they have to split the bandwidth during the free hours. in the case of port forwarding. if you are in bridge mode then no need to forword port, the port forwarding is necessary if you are in pppoe mode.

also always enable encryption for outgoing traffic in uTorrent settings.
