Arrow BSNL NEW HOME 500c Plan from 01.11.2007

Hi guys, i think this plan is the best Night unlimited plan, check it out at

    Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

This is a best plan if u don't want to pay monthly rental for the phone, and u want to use only the net. And as BSNL is going 8Mbps soon enough, one can really give a thought for it.

But the Initial charges are Very high,
If u don't have a BSNL phone then:- Security deposit Refundable 500/-

    modem purchase price 1200/-
    (or)
u can go for rental then modem installation charge 250+ refundable security deposit 500+ modem rent 60= 810/-

And not to forget the "Tax".

and if u opt for this plan than u have to keep it for 3 months 'at least'.

And can any one suggest me a modem to purchase for BSNL broadband and can it b used with any other service provides. My MOBO has WiFi connection will it have the same performance as a wired connection?

The difference is that in 500 you get 2.5 gb free and 50 calls free
and in 500C you get 1.5 gb free and 175 free calls.
Both have unlimited use at night.

Guys, could any one suggest me a good modem to purchase for this connection (with technical requirements), WiFi enabled would be an added advantage. or should i just go with the modem by BSNL?

And can i use one BSNL Broadband connection to connect more than one system using a switch? How?

Yes, home 500 c and 500 c+ plans are the new and latest best plan offered by bsnl without having to pay the phone rental and you will be getting around 180 free calls in 500 c plan and your download limit will be 1.5 gb. Any existing members of bsnl can also convert to this plan if you want, as i also changed from unlimted to 500 c plan.

Does 1.5 GB free means that we are allowed to download up to 1.5 GB excluding the free download time from 2 am to 8 am?

Keep track of your usage at bbservice.bsnl.in.
    If your IP is 117.xx.xx.xx
Log in with 14digit portal Id and password ( Exchange will give it )
    For heavy downlods during NU
Ensure Modem switched off at about 0155 and restart at 0205 AM.
    Disconnect modem at about 0755/0805.
    2. Use FireFox Browser with Adblock plus/Flashblock to block
seeing same pictures in web pages ( can be disabled) Will save
    at least 30 to 40% D/L quota.
    3. Added advantage using FF : Datafox addon will show your usage in
    status bar.
    4. Also shaplus.com/dataone/index.htm

opt for type iv modem it has wifi aswellas four lan ports so you can connect your wifi enabled gagedts(laptop, pda, etc.,) and desktops. if you want to connect more than 4 pcs you can do it by adding a switch. To share broadband connection on more than one computer configure adsl modem in always on mode. for details refer to the sticky post solution for connecting multiple computer to broadband connection

for calculating 1.5GB download limit what was uploaded is also taken into account

I checked my usage status in bbservice.bsnl.in it shows 1156.42 under Chargeable Units(MB) Excluding Night Unlimited

Does this mean that I have used 1.12 GB [1156 divided by 1024] already?

    Thanks,
    Deepan

    YES.
Also check your usage during NU times. If there is overlapping
    times from Chargeable time
say for example 0145 to 0300 this may count against chargeable units.
    or 1000 PM to 0400AM
or 0745- 0815 many not be charged.
( Depends how the meter works in blocks of 30 minutes or totally )
Safe to switch off modem around 0155 and restart 0205 and again switch off at 0755AM. ( so that Nu clearly shows as 0 units )

i am using Home 500C. i want to know what will be the billing if i use the broadband within the 1.5 GB limit , but i exceed the 175 calls limit, will the excess calls come in the monthly bills or in the usual bimonthly bills for the landline.
as in the first month, i should have 500 plus taxes, will it include the excess calls.
