    different exchanges doesnt matter !!
all that matters is whether ur friend`s exchange has deployed port binding or not .. just check if u can use ur friend`s account at ur place .. if u can use it than their is no port binding

Please be clear with ur expressions.
"only bridge connections were enabled not pppoe connection " ??
Thats the router setting .. If u enable PPPOE/PPPOA than u are supposed to save your login name and password in the router .. and if u enable Bridge mode than u have to create a dial up connection to access net

I am still not able to get you.
If u want ur connnection to be always on -- then use PPPOE/PPPOA mode i.e. save the information in the router
And if u want to connect using dial up -- then enable BRIDGE mode in ur router.
If still u have any doubts
paste a screenshot of ur router settings

If u have configured ur router without messing it up than it suggests that ur friend`s account is port binded !!
Post a screenshot of your router configuration settings so that we can examine it and let u know if u have done it the right way
