Default Suggestions for a new router for BSNL Broadband

    Hello,
I have a BSNL Broadband connection at my place in Pune. Current configuration only has a modem that I had bought about 6 years ago, I plan to add a router as well so that it will give me wi-fi connectivity. My question as follows,

    1) Should I upgrade the modem as it is six years old?
    2) If yes, which modem+router combo's would you suggest?
    3) If no, which router model's would you suggest?
    4) I also have an option of having the modem+router bought from the United States, what do I need to check to ensure that the equipment will be compatible with BSNL broadband? I guess this question is irrelevant for just the router since most of them will be compatible with the modem.

    Thanks!

Most ADSL modems should work fine. Since your modem is 6 years old better buy a modem plus router. My friend bought a Dlink 2750 U and it is working fine.

Ya.. it would work only u would have to modify some ISP specific settings by logging into the modem control panel.

    Hi Aadesh
I would suggest to buy ASUS DSL N-10 wifi adsl2+ router, this comes per-configured for BSNL and has great wifi range. You also can setup multiple wifi profile if sharing you connection with others. I am using it from last 2 year without any problem with load of 3 laptops and 1 desktop.

@ Anand - Thank you for the suggestion, I will look into the ASUS option....

@ Gallardo - Thank you for your suggestion, I looked for the D-Link option but looks like it is only available in India... I was more looking at modem + router that I can buy in USA and would work with BSNL... you happen to know any of those?

    Thanks,
    Aadesh.

Thanks Ramitzar... So the only thing that I need to check is the ADSL2+ compliance, if it is it will work with BSNL broadband?

Ya, exactly because BSNL provides copper based wired broadband on ADSL technology.

Thanks Ramitzar, this helps and broadens my range as well.. do you happen to know any tried n tested modem + routers? The instrument would be on the first floor of the house and I would like to have connectivity on the ground floor and first floor as well.

    Appreciate your responses,
    aadesh.
