Default Try Netmeter to track down your net usage

Those who are using the limited download tarriffs of various ISPs but need to visit the respective ISPs sites to check on your usage. There is actually a software which can track your download and upload usage. The best in this category would be DU Meter, which is a paid software. But if you are looking for free alternative you can try Netmeter which is a freeware and can be downloaded from here NetMeter 1.1.3 (stable) released

Hi try the " du meter" (download usage meter) this is also same as the net meter and also the similar GUI... For me the du meter seems to be more friendly when compare to the net meter.

I have used both and find du meter to be better then the net meter mainly because it uses less system resources and tends to be more accurate and feature rich as compared to netmeter.

You are right that DU meter is far better than net meter, I too use DU Meter only as it has some really amazing features which others don't have, but the only and major difference is that net meter is free and du meter is not.

    Default Netmeter problem after reset

    Hi.

A question for users of Netmeter program..
I save a copy of the logs every month.
I face a small problem if & when the logs get reset by accident/crash.
If such a thing happens, i go to the mtnl site, open the session statistics of current month > copy to excel .csv format > calculate to daily totals (as mtnl gives session-wise totals) > use 'import' function of netmeter

This updates the netmeter logs fine, but only glitch is that 'data transferred since last reset' does not get updated.

This creates a big problem, as i keep netmeter window onscreen to show the monthly download so far. So basically after each crash, i have to remember to add the lost monthly total mentally each time to the total showing on screen.

Anyone knows how the 'data since last reset' can be updated in Netmeter?
    Thanks.

    Question All users

Does this net meter or du meter calculate the usage for all users collectively or does it has the usage statistics separate for each users???

Netmeter will calculate the usage collectively as one, just make sure you install it through the admin account.

On the other hand, if you WANT it to record the usage separately for different accounts, that is not possible directly in the program. What may work is installing the prog separately for each user, taking care to install it in different locations. You would need to stop the netmeter version of admin account from starting automatically with windows, for the other user accounts.

PS: Do share your experience of using Netmeter, in case u do decide to check it out.

You would need to stop the netmeter version of admin account from starting automatically with windows, for the other user accounts.
Admin: records the usage when logged as admin
Admin : to delete this meter from all users.
Admin to load it as netmeter1, net meter 2 etc for user 1 .user2; etc.

    Example : Admin uses IE8
    user1 ; uses FireFox
    user 2 uses Opera etc.
same way net meter can be loaded
    renamed for different accts.

If logging from different computers MAC address can be used.

    Feedback please +ve or -ve.

Can't we use different meters for this purpose. Like Shaplus for one user, DU meter for other like that. How feasible is it?

    @thread starter

Consider using download meter plug in in your Firefox.

    @meetdilip
Wait for thread starter to respond. for practical result.
For two days no response from him.
    Read my post 13 again.

You can use any number of meters in a Single computer for a single computer also.
    The more the merrier.

Add the usage data of all divide by N( N= meters used)and compare with BSNL usage data.
may be someone will write a program for this.

    Thanks for the info.

I think the thread starter forgot the forum in which he posted the question. Considering this to be his first post. If we can keep the subscribe by mail option ON by default (atleast for first 5 posts) may be we can alert them of answers. I am sure he will find what he was looking for.
