Default Security Settings on UTSTARCOM WA3002G4

    Hey Guys..!

I have changed the admin password and have generated a WEP security for my wireless. I see a lot of articles and posts that say WEP is not enough to secure the connection. Can some please help me with WPA step by step settings to secure my net connection so that no one else will be able to use it.

    Thanks,
    Praveen

WEP is OK for most general purpose uses. WPA is better. As superprash has said, the process is the same, just slight changes.

p/s. There are a lot of posts on this. Please do read them.

I am having a BSNL Broadband with WA3002G1 Modem connected to desktop computer through LAN. Recently I bought a laptop and I successfully configured so as to connect to internet from both desktop computer (through LAN) and from laptop (through wireless) at the same time.

Logon to the modem from browser (192.168.1.1, admin/admin)
Go to Status -> Device Info -> WAN and note down the DNS server.
Go to Interface Setup -> Wireless.
Wirless LAN -> Access point = Activated
Wirless LAN -> Broadcast SSID = Yes
Wirless MAC Address Filter -> Active = Activated
In Mac Address #1 enter your laptop’s MAC address.
In your laptop found out your wireless network connection’s physical address / MAC address. Use “ ipconfig / all “ in command prompt.
You can add more than one wireless connection using #1 to #8.
    Any changes should be saved.

Configure your TCP/IP properties of your desktop computer
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.10 (actually greater than 1)
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
Preferred DNS Server ( already noted down)
Configure your TCP/IP properties of your laptop computer
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.11 (actually greater than 1)
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
Preferred DNS Server ( already noted down1)
Hope you can connect to inter from both desktop and laptop. Good luck.

Default Needed Guidance for configuring my modem (DNA-A201BE)

Hai! I got Dataone BB connection before 1 year. For the convenience of downloading during the night unlimited hours (2 a.m. to 8 a.m.), I want to change the bridge setting of my modem to PPPoE.

The most pitiful thing is I am unable to find the method to do this for the model of the modem what I have. So I kindly request you to guide me or atleast inform me where I can find the method tho change the setting.

    Modem Manufacturer : SemIndia
    Modem Model : DNA-A201BE

    THANK YOU

all the modems have similar settings to configure them in pppoe mode.you have to edit connection properties(name something like 0_35_)& change protocol from bridged to pppoe with rest of settings same.take a look here to get an idea---

Default Configuring WA3002G4 modem / DSL router

You dont need to scratch brains for any configuration stuff, If it were to be so technical to configure; then this modem cannot be so foolproof as I found. I am a techi and I used my logical skills to configure this.

All I did is restored to factory settings and then simply entered the correct username and password in the pppoe_0_35_1 service editor. Then saved and rebooted the modem. Thats all!!!

Later, if you would like to use the additional features of the modem such as NAT, RIP and stuff, you can then apply your techincal skills but without damaging the defaults.

Please post if you guys need any clarifications.
