Here is what I have done.

Go into modem setup from browser (192.168.1.1, admin/admin)

    Click Advanced Setup> WAN Setup
Click "Edit" on First Row showing 0/35 under VPI/VCI column.
    Uner ATM PVC Configuration
    VPI: [0-255]=35
    VCI: [1-65535]=35

Enable VLAN Tagging = do not select
Service Category: = UBR without PCR
    click next
Select "PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)" and Encapsulation Mode = "LLC/SNAP-Bridging"
    Click Next

    Under PPP Username and Password
    PPP Username: = <Your Dataonne UserName>
    PPP Password: = <Your Dataone Password>
PPPoE Service Name: = Leave this Blank
    Authentication Method: = Auto
Do not select anything else on this page.

    Enable NAT = yes
    Enable Firewall =yes
    Enable IGMP Multicast = yes
    Enable WAN Service = yes
Service Name =pppoe_0_35_1 (or anything else)
    Click next

Now "WAN Setup - Summary" should look like this
    VPI / VCI: 0 / 35
    Connection Type: PPPoE
    Service Name: pppoe_0_35_1
    Service Category: UBR
    IP Address: Automatically Assigned
    Service State: Enabled
    NAT: Enabled
    Firewall: Enabled
    IGMP Multicast: Enabled
    Quality Of Service: Disabled

    Click "Save".
Click "Save and Reboot" on next page

    **Restart your PC and WA3002G4**

    Go to "Network Connections"

Select "Local Area Connection" and "1394 Connection" at the same time (hold down control key)
Right click and select "Bridge Connections".
Let windows Create Network Bridge. After few seconds it will shows status as "Connected".

    Voila!

thanx for this article but when i setup the Always Online Connection
by this way then it blocks all of my ports. I cant even unblock them even by disabling router's firewall.
Whereas when i setup a dialup connection, all my ports are forwarded and the result is better download speed on utorrent...

am using UTSTARCOM WA 3002G4 router
    with windows Vista Home Premium

    please help

^^ Use either PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall or PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall to configure port forwarding for the desired application (utorrent in your case).

    Default Optimum setting for WA3002g4

was able to set up always on connection with this modem. With this method I do not need to dial the connection every time I boot the PC.

PLEASE let me know what should be the value of VPI should it be zero(0) or thirtyfive(35).

Enable only GDMT T413 glite and bitswap
    Uncheck rest and please try.
ADSL2+ fast line speed sometimes not suitable.
If you loose connection check/select adsl2 also.

DSL settings page should be similar in WA3002-G4
    Recheck in Statistics ADSL page
    SNR attn line speed.

As stated by essbebe, enable G.DMT and keep a close lookout for disconnections. G.DMT brings forth marginal improvement in the SNR and hence helps in maintaining a stable connection with the exchange.

hye friends, I am using UTSTARCOM WA3002G4 modem on my bsnl bb 500 combo plan. I connect to internet through pppoe mode. But sometimes when my wireless laptop is connected to the modem, I can't surf. My browser says "page can't be displayed". There is no activity on the internet on my computer(windows xp professional). When i try to diagnose the modem, i find it ok. Hence i always have to restart my modem and after 1 or 2 minutes everything gets ok. Please help me........

U mean to say u have another PC connected to the modem and that PC works fine while the laptop stops working?

Does the laptop loose connectivity with the wifi router? Or is it just that the router stops responding? If it is the latter, please verify whether the router is over heating. BSNL modems are known to start acting up once they get heated up.

Does the ADSL link light on the modem start blinking when u see the page cannot be displayed error message?

The laptop does not loose connectivity with the router. I think it is just the router which stops responding.
I don't think the router heats up. I have used it for a very long duration without any problem in the past.
ADSL link light remains steady when my browser is unable to get any page from internet.

Ok a final query. Have u tried using the connection in bridged mode, the mode in which we need to dial the connection to get activated. Please verify whether the same disconnection problem occurs then also. If the same happens then also, then u need to get the modem checked/replaced by BSNL.

U can also try changing the DNS server settings to 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.200

    1. See in the modem/router under Management
    any option client TR-069 available.
    Disable it.
1a. Also post From Statistics ADSL
    SNR/ATTN/Linespeed /mod selected.

    2. When you cannot surf press CTRL/ALT/DEL
combination and check the application/s not responding
    and the CPU usage.

    3. Please see Post 83 for manuals etc.

    4. Which are the browser/s you use ?

I have been using my modem in bridge connection mode last year. But I was getting annoyed with this mode because sometimes i was not able to connect to the Bsnl broadband. Regarding this problem, I had put a query in the thread named "wan-miniport-displayed-too-long". Getting frustrated with this problem, i switch to the PPPOE mode. But still i am helpless.
I will definitely change the DNS server settings as u have mentioned, but what is the logic behind doing so.

DNS server helps in speedy resolution of the websites and hence enhances the browsing speed. Maybe the timeouts which u are getting is because of faulty DNS servers of BSNL. So i suggested switching the DNS to OpenDNS.

Whether should I change the OpenDNS settings in my laptop (xp o/s tcp/ip settings) or in the router configuration settings?

If u are using bridge configuration, then u should enter the dns settings in the tcp/ip properties of connection (which u double click to establish the connection)

In pppoe mode, enter the settings in the tcp/ip properties of the lan card and the router.

I have changed to the opendns settings as you have suggested. There was a temporary relief but after one or two hours, the problem appeared again. I was not able to access any page from the internet. I diagnosed my router settings and it was as shown below in "modem test1".

Getting fed up, I rebooted my router and things were normal again. I diagnosed my router again and this time the result was as shown below in "test 2":

But i know the result is temporary. Please suggest me to tackle this problem.

From the two screenshots one can find that the primary ping to the DNS is being blocked in the first case and it is allowed in the second case. Hence u were facing no problems with the connection then.

Have u tried disabling the integrated firewall of the router?
