Exclamation Unable to access some sites

    Hi,

I'm from Hyderabad, having BSNL broadband connection (unlimited plan and UTStarcomGA3002G4 modem). I'm facing a peculiar problem. One day every thing seems to be fine but the next day some sites are not getting opened. After a couple of days these sites get opened but some other sites are not responding. I'm not able to make out where the problem is? I've given a complaint in the department but no proper solution. Please suggest me what to do?

looks like more of a firmware glitch than any other prob.....just check that when no site is opening then are you able to ping your dns servers....

Well i faced this kind of problem and what i used do was to switch off my modem and then turn it on. I know this is irritating to do continuously but i think this is the only way out or change your broadband connection.

May be try clearing the cookies and check for malicious software installation. In most of the cases it would be the malware installed without your knowledge.

If all the above fails, try changing your modem connection from USB to ethernet or vice versa, sometimes it would work. Once it worked for me, i had my connection with USB and i changed to ethernet it worked fine but later i eventually switched back to usb now. This is an option only, not a solution to try out.

I also faced similar problem when i had BSNL braodband connection and i used to turn off my modem and then turn it on and sometimes it worked. You can also try using proxies as somtimes they also make things work.

    Hi

had the same problem was unable to access icicibank.com and some other sites.
waited thinking the problem would go away but that did not happen.
I had to do some research, and solved it myself.

I have a Beetel wireless router went into router interface by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of Mozilla
and decreased MRU from 1482bytes to 1400bytes which solved the problem.
    pls try and get back

If you are on "Bridged" (dialer) mode change over to PPP/PPPoE
when you get the WAN page to enter UserId/PW in modem page
you will/may find box for MTU. Recommended 1492.

    or
    try tcp/ip optimizer from speedguide.net.
