    Default Unknown incoming/outgoing data problem

hi i am having the home500 plan. and i wil connect to the internet often.. and my system is simply just connected to the internet.

The problem is, even i am not browsing or downloading, my internet connectivity in my systemtray is active and something is downloading or uploading(i dont know whether it is downloading or uploading)....

I disabled all of my antivirus automatic updates and my windows autoupdates..... And even though some thing is downloading or uploading without my knowledge...
I tried by installing the du meter and i checked by using the internet stop watch option.. and it confirms that something is downloading at the rate of 4kBps without my knowledge...

Also i tried by scanning whether any spyware or virus is there... but no use... i dont know wat to do..(because of this problem, my usage amount is wasted ....)
please help me what is the problem...

your system could have been hacked by someone, i suppose. Try and insall a good firewall in your pc. Some like zonealarm even offers free version. You should definitely have a firewall installed in your pc since you say that you will always be online.

If it still persists, just format it, that's the way out of this mess. I also had such problem once and had format it.

Try running ad-aware anti spyware programme by lavasoft and see if something comes up, Its available for free on their website Ad-Aware @ Lavasoft - The Original Anti-Spyware Company - Lavasoft

Another thing to check would be your automatic updates for windows or any other software you might be using could be using up that bandwidth.

You could check the automatic updates option in the control panel. If that is set to on, then this problem could persist. So try to disable that. Else choose the option,"Ask me before downloading". So this could may also be a problem. And also check for the regular spyware and other malware scripts.

I guess disabling updates wont be a very good decision.. I suggest you scedule updates for the time when your data usage is free if atall..

what i dont get is y the hell would u keep your internet connection on 24/7 when u hav a limited data plan?
try stopping the unwanted services by going to services.msc!!and also try to close your anti-virus softwares not just disable them coz some of them tend to keep in constant communication with their server!!

    Absolutely spot on ...

And in my opinion there is no use getting a connection with a limited data transer as 1-2 gb is nothing for a month.. if you are into downloading mosic and movies and stuff or even softwares which you buy or games then you surely need an unlimited connection.

ISP's actually offer these limited data transfer plans to suck the blood out of noobies .. and I know they often end up paying more then what an unlimited connection would cost them and then there is a factor of incorrect billing as well and as we all know customer service is not amongst the best here in India.... Get an unlimited connection and you cant go wrong no extra charges and above all peace of mind

Install Zone Alarm Internet Security and then check which programs are accesing the internet. Then you will most probably find a Virus or a trojan. Install a good antivirus and remove it.
