Default Can the pinging time differ from time to time for the same website?

I see the pinging times are 65ms and 151ms for google at different instants of the day. Does it vary for a website by that kind of huge margin in different times? or should it be constant all the time? If its not then why? Network parameters have been almost the same always.

Can anybody give a thought... because even if there is no problem in the connection itself the pinging time is varying abruptly from time to time. 10-20 ms does not matter but a 100+% change is making it really annoying.

these ping fluctuations are normal on BSNL Broadband due to their pathetic routing. I play online games like battlefield 3 mostly on European servers. before 27th of march I use to get pings of around 175ms to London and about 180ms to german servers. now when their cables have been fixed I am getting around 300ms for last 25 days. isn't its amazing. most ISPs improve their service and quality by time. Seems BSNL is going backwards. meanwhile I was on high upload speed 3199 plan up till last week. switched to super speed 2799 for more worse experience.

Exactly the same thing is happening with me too. Today after a long wait they changed the card of my number at exchange and the SNR margin increased by 5 dB and line attenuation decreased by 2 dB. But to my shocking surprise, the internet is now damn slow! Pages are taking a minute to load and while doing pinging tests, even Google is not returning 20-25% of packets back to my computer! I just don't know what is happening here and what benefit i'm getting after the improvements of the those above values. A download of 875 MB stopped after 275 MB and never resumed. Absolutely wow! Total disaster!
