    Default help with dynalink rta100

I have a similar problem but with a askey Dynalink RTA100+ ADSL Router/Modem and am connected to punjab bsnl dataone brodband. I also recently purchased NETGEAR WGR614v6 / 54mbps wireless router. I too have followed the instructions in the setup wizard but i cannot connect to the Internet even via the lan or usb ports. I tried to bridge the RTA100+ ADSL modem, which i did following Dynalink's instructions but im not sure if it is fully bridged. When I did bridge my Dynalink modem, and connected my netgear router, I could not gain access to the IP config page even for the router (which is the same as the dynalink modem 192.168.1.1). I was wondering how I fully bridge my dynalink RTA100+ modem and how I connect to the internet from my dynalink modem through my netgear router and then to my pc via LAN or usb (and then hopefully wireless). Please help me because the guys at netgear could not work it out and said the router was faulty?i purchased from australia. plz help me.(how to configure) thanx

    Hi Kuldeep,

I have gone thru the manuals that you sent me. You pucrhased this modem in Australia? Australia has slightly different telecom standards. Also this modem is not compatible with the ADSL2/ADSL2+ standards. I feel that Netgear router is not the issue.

You can try to setup again as follows and see whether this works. Else I would suggest that you buy an ADSL2 modem/router from BSNL.

Configuration of RTA100+ in Bridge Mode:
    ===============================
    Assumptions:
    ------------
    - You are running Windows/XP with SP2
    - The RTA100+ drivers are already installed on your system
    - RTA100+ is hard-wired to your system via USB or LAN (RJ45) cable
    - RTA100+ is recognized as a device by Windows/XP

    Preliminary Checkup Steps:
    --------------------------
    a. Ensure that you do not set static IP address for your TCP/IP network. Do the steps on page 14 of user manual:

    Windows 2000, XP PCs:
    ---------------------
    1. In the Windows task bar, click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click the Network and Dial-up Connections (or Network Connections for Windows XP) icon.
    3. Right-click the Local Area Connection icon, and then select Properties.
    4. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
Note: If you are using USB PC, select the TCP/IP for your
USB device, for example: Dynalink USB IAD LAN Modem.
    5. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, click the radio button labeled Obtain an IP address automatically. Also click the radio button labeled Obtain DNS server address automatically.
    6. Click OK twice to confirm and save your changes, and then close the Control Panel.

    b. Click Start --> Run
    c. Enter 'cmd' (with quotes) and press enter. This should open a command window.
    d. Enter the command: ipconfig
    e. You should get something like this:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    IP Address . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.3
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2 (if connected via USB)

    or

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    IP Address . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.3
    Subnet Mask. . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 (if connected via LAN)

    f. If not, enter the command: ipconfig/renew and recheck from step 3.
    g. If yes, then open the browser and go to page: http://192.168.1.1

    Configuring the Bridge Connection:
    ---------------------------------
    a. After logging in as admin/admin, click on Home --> Quick Configuration
    b. Select/set the following values:

    ATM Interface: 0
    Operation Mode: Enabled
    Encapsulation: 1483 Bridge ...
    VCI: 0
    VPI: 35
    Bridge: Enabled
    IGMP: Disabled
    Username: <blank>
    Password: <blank>
    Use DNS: Enabled
Primary DNS: You may just keep the default 0.0.0.0.
Secondary DNS: You may just keep the default 0.0.0.0.

    c. Click on 'Submit'.
    d. Follow the 'Commit & Reboot' procedure as explained on the User Guide - Page 20.
