    Default Review of BSNL Broadband

I have been using BSNL Broadband for quite some time and found it, in terms of speed and connection, is really good. Except for occasional days where there will be cut due to external factors, otherwise, I am somewhat satisfied with it. I have been using the home unlimited 900 plan. Everything is fine so far, except when it comes to disconnection and that is when the problems arise, as customer service for this government owned entertprise is really pathetic, just like other government service.

I would recommend BSNL to others too but you should be ready to face the worst customer service. I would rate it at 3 out of 5, where 5 is outstanding.

I have also used BSNL broadband but the biggest problem with them the time i left them was that they did not had unlimited packages because of which i was getting bills around 5,000 to - 8,000 and that also on a 256 kbps line.

i disagree with you on some points..their service is not that bad if we talk about customer support..national helpline may not be that good..but their local dealers are always supportive..the only problem i am facing with them is their connection speed..when i purchased their 900+ unlimited usage plan they promised to give 100+ speed(in the form they mention it to be 10 mbps though)..but i have never got speed more than 40 kbps and that too happens after midnight..so my only concern is about the speed they provide..

^^ UL home plans from BSNL supports a maximum of 256kbps. Means u will be getting an effective 32kBps.

Looks like BSNL is looking for customers like you who pay 5-7 times more then their original package cost and it is good that you have learned that what kind of packages you should go for from now onward.

Thumbs up Review of BSNL Broadband: From the Form to the Fire

    Hi,

I would like to share my views on BSNL Broadband with you all.

The first n foremost reason to opt for BSNL Broadband was the connectivity. I was having an Airtel DSL connection which was quite doing good with heavy downloads and high streaming audio.video stuff. But when I shifted my home, the area which I've put up now doesn't have airtel broadband. Hence, I decided to go for the BSNL broadband

I first applied online for the broadband. The immediate next day, I received a call from a JTO stating that I need to fillup the form in physical form and then hand it over to the Customer Service Center executives. I promptly did that and was told that I would be getting ther landline conenction within 48 hours. I thought for a moment that these guys are not going to give me the connection as said.

Third day, I got a call from a lineman. What a a surprise!!! The line was installed within 15 minutes in my premises. Then I again went to the same CSC for the broadband application form. I filled it out and gave them. I was told that in next 7 days Broadband would be activated. On the eight day, I got a call saying my user id and password are ready. As I've opted for own CPE(customer premises Equipment), I was asked whether I need any tehcnician for installation. I quickly denied for the same as 'am damn pretty with handling my own Router configuration.

Got the user id and password. Configured the router... and voila!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was rocking back online....

I had opted for the Home 900 UL plan and 'am getting 280 - 310 Kbps consistently..

As I had worked with Airtel in the Broadband division as a backened engineer, I knew the way BSNL's gonna act. But, to my surprise, I was attened promptly and got the broadband installed without any glitches. I should say.. Govt has improved when the competition started....

    City : Trivandrum

    Package: Home 500

    Cost per Month : 500/-

Positive Points : Never faced any downtimes, or speed issues. Night time free downloading is a boon for download junkies like me. I always contact the NIB nodal office for any troubleshooting and they are very cooperative.

Negative Points : Sloppy BSNL server timings, keeps on changing on monthly basis. Hence there is chance of getting billed for free usage (overlapping). Crappy DNS service from BSNL (go for opendns or treewalk dns)

General View : Of the three internet connections i got at my place, Dataone rocks any day. Quite reliable. Would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a trouble free ISP in India
