Unhappy DSL stable . Internet Connectivity unstable

The internet keeps disconnecting every 10-20 minutes and reconnects automatically after 5-6 minutes.
During this,The DSL light is stable , there's loss of only Internet Connectivity.
    This happens throughout the day..
I have contacted BSNL many times. They have reset my port , But in vain.
Everytime I contact them they tell they'll solve it then BOOM, disconnect the call.
I have tried everything like factory reset of my Modem cum Router (ASUS DSL-N10E) . I dont think there's a problem with my hardware because some months ago I had the same problem and it was corrected when they Reset my port at the exchange.
    SNR Margin -12.1
    Attenuation - 11.6

I am planning to complain to Appellate Authority if the problem persists after I check with different modem.
Could somebody please throw some light on what actually might be the issue here??

    Regards,
    Depressed BSNL customer

No idea to what the problem maybe, the only guess is that there is some issue with the line itself. Have you asked BSNL to send someone out to check the line?

They say as long as the DSL light is stable, the line has no problems.
One more thing I noticed from two days is that this happens only during day. There's not even a single drop during night from 10pm to 7am.So no fault in my modem I guess.
BTW I have filed a complaint with the District Head Office of BSNL...

    Hi there,
I had the same light fault a year ago and it was resolved by a new modem. The guy simply replaced the modem and everything was fine thereafter. But from what u said its quite annoying .
Ur line seems to be disturbed by those values u posted. Quite a strange issue.. Have u tryed using a different modem at the time when the problem occurs. Give iy a try if possible. Did the reset ur ports now as well??

There can be an issue with the modem as well then, try using your connection on another modem (if you can borrow it from someone) or ask BSNL to send out an engineer, as they have spare modems and they would be able to find out the problem.

    Thanks for the response.
I have my own modem ASUS DSLN10E (Modem cum Router).
The problem is still there. Now it's day and night. It was proper for two day.
I will soon test with another modem. The BSNL exchange doesn;t even have proper furniture. I doubt they'll give me a spare modem for testing.
    Let's see.

Modems by engineers are normally carried around with, you seriously need to get an engineer to come and visit as it is something at their end which needs to get fixed.

I borrowed my friend's modem today. I thought of using it if the internet gets disconnected again. But that didn't happen today. My bad luck I guess. Waiting for the Internet to get disconnected to try my friend's modem. BTW BSNL called me and told that everything is fine from their end. And they would lend me a modem for trial if needed.
I also requested BSNL to change my port. He said that may not be the issue here.
This is getting interesting day by day. Whenever I take such preventive measures Internet doesn't disconnect even once.
I guess my modem came to know that someone is in the house to replace him.lol.
    Lets see.
    Will keep updating...

Some spirit is in my Modem I am sure. Today it again disconnected. As soon as I brought my friend's modem to connect , The internet light turns on again. No disconnection from past 4 hrs. This is getting crazier and crazier.

So strange. I'd take BSNL up on their offer for a trial with one of their modems. Run it 24x7 for a week and see what happens.

Also, have you seen that this happens more often when you have a lot of data transfer or less? If possible, test this for any patterns.

Also, try to eliminate any device on the network that can be infected with a virus or malware. A lot of US ISPs will cut off the Internet if they see these type of things transmitting data.

    Thnx for the response.
This happens even when there's not much data flow as well during heavy data flow.
I even tried connecting modem directly without splitter . same problem.
Tried without connecting the pc, same problem.
Tried switching the wifi off only pc, same problem.
Tried with wifi off , pc unplugged, same issue.
I have an android and a pc connected to the router. That's it.
Even the BSNL doesn't know what's the actual issue.
My last resort would be to terminate their service.

Wow, your test of connecting nothing proved that it wasn't anything on the network.

Have you tried their modem yet? That's the only test left. Have them send an engineer if they will, and don't let him leave for a few hours. A nice meal and some chai should do the trick.

And if they don't fix it, I would terminate their service and then wait a while and sign up again. I'm sure that would put you on a different port and someone would have to come test the service during setup.

The engineer is not even ready to come to my home, He just sits there and tells, "your modem may heat up and cause such issues.switch it for 0.5 hrs"
The friend's modem I tried is of BSNL only. When I told them that I tried with my friend's modem and the issue is same. He says I must configure that modem by changing the username and pwd as if I dont know that And am a douche sitting here in front of my PC.
There's no other ISP in our area except them.
I even complained to DISTRICT PUBLIC GRIEVANCE CELL. Then internet was working without a glitch for 2 days. So they closed the complaint. After this same old story continues.
I am literally fed up. Moreover I do online trading.
BSNL sucks big time.. Government must privatize it ASAP.

If it's that bad, I'd move to a 3/4g usb stick Internet as routers now support that type of ISP now. Sucks that BSNL is jerking you around like that.

I know 'that's India', but trust me, it's starting to get like that here in the US. We had a Charter business Internet modem down for a month because of them and I'm still waiting for a credit for their lack of service...

have you tried the diagnostics? whether the report days DNS error / DNS not responding or something similar? This is a known issue with BSNL and can only be rectified from the exchange side.

I know, and it's really sad. There's enough manpower and money to transform the country into first-world almost overnight. The problem is that the will to do so is suppressed by the corrupt few who hold power in the country. If only the citizens of the country knew what they were being cheated out of--the revolt would be overnight.

I mean, the costs of these Internet plans is the same as what we pay here in USD! But the service lacks tenfold even though the support centers are in India! Crazy! They do it for people abroad but won't do it for their own even though the money is the same...sad...very sad.

That's an interesting thought. You could replace BSNLs DNS servers with 8.8.8.8 and see if that resolves the problem.

Another idea I just thought of was to run a ping to the default gateway on BSNL's side and see what you're getting in terms of packet loss. Post the results here if possible.

Yes very true, but companies need to work in good honestly and put customer preference first, like complaints which are made. There is a lot of 3G availability in my area where I live, but it all comes down to service, and at the end of the day there is only one or two options left to choose from.

There is a lot of aspect in India and it can do really well with 4G coming in place as well.

Sorry for late reply. The internet is totally unusable now. Disconnects after 1 minute. Connects after 5 min.
And moreover my exams are going on, I cant even take the notes from Beloved WikiPedia.lol.
I accept my defeat.. I call them atleast twice a day. They don't even know what to do next.
If I plan to the Appellate Authority , he may sort out something. but what if he is also like the others.??
I have sent some emails to Tikona, YOU, Hathway and others to expand their networks to rural india.

To sum up , BSNL= Bhai Sahab Nahi Lagega

To get notes from net u can get a recharge done on ur smartphone n connect it to pc via USB and use the net.
go for cheapest offer. I sometimes use rs17 for 200mb for 7 days. Check if u have the same offer available (Airtel) or any cheap one.

Give a last try to BSNL by
Talking to ur Area manager and discuss the issue, directly go to the exchange and see what happens. Or else throw BSNL and opt for any other BB available.

There's a twist in the story now. Our entire area is facing the same problem now. BSNL dont know when it'll be fixed.
They say Its because the wires are getting damaged cause Construction of Xpress highway is in progress.
    Will keep updating.
    Adios !

I suggest you to check if this is happening with a PC that is directly connected to modem with the cable or is it only happening with WiFi?
I may be able to help you as I have had this exact same problem 2 days ago and also have the same router/ modem as you (Asus DSL-N10E).
