Default unable to setup netgear router with UT starcom adsl modem

I have a dataone connection and a UT starcom UT300RU2 ADSL modedm. I have a vista notebook, and i happily connect to the broadband using PPPoE.

Now, to extend my network to WiFi, i purchased a netgear wireless router rangemeax WPN 824 v2. I followed the installation instruction exactly. The trouble is that, the notebook declares that the connection has been estabished, but i cannot get any webpages loaded. Also, i can connect to my comapny VPN network, through the VPN client. Kindly help if you have any suggestions

actually pppoe works sweetly with vista thru wifi!!
enable wifi on laptop(press wifi button)
click on start->connect to->select wifi network & enter security settings(make sure u encrypt ur connection)->after it is connected-> click setup a connection or network in the connect to menu->choose connect to internet->click create new connection->select broadband(pppoe)->enter username,password->click connect ur done!!

or if u hav multiple computers i suggest u connect the adsl modem to the wan port of the netgear router&go to the router config page and set the wan connection type as pppoe & enter user name and password and all your computers have internet now!!THIS METHOD IS NOT RECOMENDED FOR HOME 500 plans as it is connected to the internet 24/7 and some bandwidth is used for keep alive and other connections!!

U pinned it! I do have a home 500 plan and i have already tried all the usual stuff, i.e., connecting WAN port of the router to the DSL modem's Ethernet port, connecting notebook to the client port of router, setting PPPoE on router etc. but i cannot connect through the ethernet port also. I have DHCP running both on the modem and the router. The IP address the router is finally picking up is 59.65.*.* or something of that sort. To the best of my understanding it should pick up an address of 198.162.*.* for the WAN port. End result is that i am not able to access any website, even through the client ethernet port of the router, wireless is much ahead.

BTW, without the router, directly thru modem, the connection rocks!

I do have a plan of home 500, so if you have any inputs for the home 500 plan, kindly share

    Arati,

    a) You must setup UT-330RU2 ADSL Modem/Router in the bridge mode.
    b) Setup a PPPoE connection on your Desktop/Laptop using Internet Connection Wizard for wired connections.
    c) Setup the Netgear Wireless router for PPPoE connection.

    Default Got the connection working

Hi, finally i got the connection working.
I followed the steps mentioned in this (Making the BSNL DataOne Wireless home network guide) thread. The only difference was that I had to connect the modem to the WAN port of my router, and secondly, i have a NETGEAR router and UTStar ADSL modem. The instructions are quite elaborate, one only needs to map them to the particular devices one has. Thanks admin!

Thanks a lot to all who took the time to reply.

    Regards,
    arati
