Yes! We could have hacked accounts before in old servers.

I can tell how, but not the accounts.
    For example:
Go to http://192.168.1.1 in your browser.
Then enter "admin" and "admin" in both Username and "Password" fields.
Then go to WAN Settings, and enter the desired username and password of the hacked account.

But BSNL changed the servers in September and now all the ports are automatically bound. So we cant hack other's account.

Now BSNL BB connections are tied to the home phone number. So it is not possible to connect to your BB account from a different phone line. This is the way BSNL protects us from hacking.

However, if you have a wireless configuration, someone in the neighbourhood can easily "ride" on your account, if you leave the wireless connection unencrypted. You can easily turn on WEP or WPA encryption on your wireless router. Another easy way to protect your wireless network is by MAC Address filtering.

You should also change the passwords of your BB account and Router 'admin' account.

I dont think it is possible to change the router's admin Username and Password in BSNL sold modems. For example, Huawei Modems.

And better use some good wireless routers for maximum protection

These days port binding is done automatically for all the accounts. Hence no chance of hacking

My modem is UT-300R2U from UT Starcom. I changed my router (admin) password the very first day. Although I have not seen the Huawei Modem, I would be very surprised if they do not provide password change function. Are you sure you have researched properly? It may be hidden in the "Tools" or an equivalent option. Or else it may be a very old model.

Please describe what you mean by "hacking". I am pretty much sure that this forum does not encourage hacking.

    Exclamation

hi 4 days before also i hacked the guest account by entering the username as guest and password as guest.

Its working for me... now the download limit is 230kBps.

I wil change the usrname and pw as guest instead of my own username and password in my modem.

I will change sharply at 2 am and automatically that internet connection wil cuts after 9.30 am approximately ..

only one and half hour we can access extra without billed..

But before three months that guest account was worked at all time which i wil download continuously for night and day..... which the download rate was more than 200kBps...

But now after 9 am that guest connection is getting disconnected or not working...... I dont know wat is going on in the bsnl server...

yes getting the user name & password of the broadband users is still working, now using that user name is 99% not possible due to port binding but there are still those accounts which are not bounded by port binding tech.

The accounts which are not being port bound now will be port bound in the coming weeks. If a complaint arises BSNL starts monitoring the specified port for misuse and bills the so-called hacker for the data transfer occurred..

yes that is correct ! They are binding the port but i dont know if you have noticed, if you get the ID & pass of a new connection ie same day, you can login from any line & the interesting part is later it will be port binded no doubt, but from the number from which you have loged in before, you can still use it. I dont know how it works ! I have exp'ncd it myself.

I have a UL750 account and my cousin took another account of 500+ and the first day itself as his pc was down gave me his ID then it worked....! now port binding is enabled but still can access his account from both our lines but cant access it from any other line.
We are in same area but around 1.5 KM apart.

Port binding can be disabled, but only on specific requests. And i do not know whether it is possible in all the states, but in Kerala they allow it.

Please do not underestimate BSNL techies. They comprise the cream of Indian network engineers. The real people who run the ship (read BSNL Broadband) always lies hidden beneath the servers and gateways and access concentrators. I personally know a couple of them, mainly through email correspondence and i have wished to be someone just like them someday. The talks are so technical that u have to be a real pro if u want to initiate a conversation with them

No wonder i havent faced any problem with my connection since March 2005. And u know what? The BSNL Broadband CC of Trivandrum City is the NIB engineers itself.

The Main problem is with BSNL babus, they have been working for BSNL from a long number of years. most of then are not even engineers, they are I.T.Is
They only know about POTS system and nothing about DSL.

they have full job security so, they don't work any extra to learn more

yes that is correct, old lazy guys cant even blame them.
They did the work in their time, now the whole system is changed but still they remain the same so no use....

    my personal experience...
last month i went to pay the bill & asked in the counter that is there a online payment facility available & the person promptly replied yes sir this is a online payment facility itself, then i convinced him that i was asking if i can pay the bill sitting at home via internet.... then the answer he gave shut my mouth....
he said ha ha ha sir that option will come in BSNL only after we guys retire & guys like you come to work here....
