    Default BSNL Modem WA 3002 - G4

Some one sent me this message in PM .. Posting this here to get some attention from members.

    Hi

I purchased Modem WA 3002 -G4 FROM BSNL FOR MY HOME USE and now having received my first month bill I am taken aback

I was using the Internet only for VOIP calls through the router & that too in total for about an hour daily. The BSNL subscription is for Home plan 1GB limit. It crossed & charged extra 980 rs which is exorbitant. I am not browsing Internet & don't even switch on my computer for any purpose including browsing

I doubt since the modem is wifi, may be some one is using by connecting it wireless access

Is it possible to lock / put security key for limiting unauthorized assess to my Internet subscription???

Pls guide me through & I am not computer literate / expert. I need to be guided to do by simple steps. I have been given with user name & password to my ADSL line, is it same for modem locking as well?

Kindly help me to put password so only I can access n no outsiders have access to my ADSL remotely

    Expecting ur prompt reply

    Regards

    Dr.Thejaswini

some voip services including skype hav dirty tricks in their books like using your bandwith & telephone connection to keep costs low!

google and search through forums about your voip service

Yes I agree Skype uses p2p thing to keep their server loads to a bare minimum but thats known to every one and I really dont mind keeping skype on 24/7 and nor would anyone who believes in sharing and helping each other to get a better experience online
And this is why skype's voice quality rocks as your connection takes the shortest route possible to your destination without having all the voice data to be routed through skype's servers.. and this is why skype is so popular and reliable with no downtime ever

I dont know any other voip service which uses this p2p thing... any other names?

    Default Hello

    Hi,

This is Soni.. I had purchased packet8 Voip and sent it to India after activating it here in the US.

In india, they have UTSTARCOM Dataone WA3002g4 and I believe there is a built-in firewall because when they connect the phone to the modem, there is no dial tone.

and Is it possible that when I activated the phone here it catched my IP address???

If anybody else had the same problems, please let me know how to fix this. It would be appreciated.

    Thank you....
