How about this speed,you wanted a speed from a download manager.I have achieved more than 500kBps but still this is average speed,idm.jpg

453.332kBps = 3.54165625 mbps

As much as only web browsing is concerned,you'll hardly use the full BW(bandwidth) of any ISP(unless the speed provided is as low as 256 kbps,because a webpage is nearly some kbs size,except only pages with too much of multimedia like photos,audio etc take some of your BW,and also the loading of a page depends on many factors like server BW,no of peers connected to server,your browser compatibility etc.So you can only know the speed through a good download manager like IDM or torrent downloads(depends upon seeders of any torrent,you may have to use multiple torrent downloads simultaneously to achieve the full BW).Hope you understand.Happy browsing.

average speed is what you get or calculate after you finished downloading.also for this test of yours you are downloading fedora from a very fast european ftp & these downloads are always faster compared to normal sites.have you achieved such speeds on other normal sites/torrents e.g.rapidshare,softpedia etc.also about your timing of download was it in between 2-8AM free night time or not.in the end which plan are you using---home plan or business plan.

I feel that the whole arguments are so futile but whitestar is correct in theory and essentials:

- at 2 mbps max, you should get a max speed of 256 kBps
- the true test of a download is an actual file download from server or RS or torrent (with nothing else consuming bandwidth)
- speed tests are not necessarily accurate

However, if you are indeed getting better speeds than promised, why argue? Just enjoy.

this is my turn...
im in home500 and yesterday my DL(5GB) + UL(1.2GB) = 6.2GB from 2:15 to 7:45.
I checked with the net meter.. it showing average download speed is 700KBps. But i caluculated manually it should be some 300KBps. I feel that 5GB DL is good for 5.5hrs. What u guys say??

aruncse30 the dl amount you mentioned how do you calculate it.i mean is this the total size of all files you downloaded or you used net meter to see how much data transfer took place.if you have used net meter values then check if the size of all files you downloaded is indeed equal to 5GB.also from 2:15-7:45 it is 4.5 hrs not 5.5

my mistake i was a little sleepy at that moment.
just one last confirmation.you said torrents so are they finished downloading.there is a setting in uTorrent which let you select how you want to allocate disc space for torrent--in 1st method entire space is reserved & then downloading begins.in 2nd case size increases gradually as downloading continues.
what i meant to say is are your torrents are finished downloading in uTorrent window.if yes then are you using private torrents.
