Password theft is possible and this has nothing to do with the plan type. The risk in limited plans such as Home 500 or Home 250 is that if someone is "riding" your internet connection, that person will consume your bandwidth and your upload/download limit quickly and you will see a huge bill.

The default BSNL password is 'password'. Everyone knows that. But now more and more internet connections from BSNL are port binded, i.e., you can connect to internet only from your phone line. If this is the case then it does not matter whether your password is known or not. So check with the local exchange whether internet connection is port binded.

Also note that username and password, both are required, for a connection to be established.

Correct to the extent where port binding is in place. Port binding is not implemented everywhere.

actually dear u are wrong , if any one knows some ones dataone password then he can suff anonymously. u cannot stop that unless u change ur password. actually what u were saying is not available on bsnl broadband but on BSNL'S NETONE FACILITY. it idetifies CLI.

does he have a broadband in his house. if yes then u can surf with ur id/pass, if no then u cannot because a tel. exchange they create a broad line for ur number. that provides the link to appear on the modem...........

Even bsnl adsl broadband connections are port binded now with an exception of a few exchanges which will start doing it as well asap.

Well as of the ID thing i am also not able to access my User Id from my friends place who is just two houses away from me. So i think it is not permitted.

well i dont think that there is any chance that you can access your user name and password from some other computer or connnection as these connections are port binding.
