Default Easy way of auto-rebooting WA3002G4 modem.

    OS: Windows XP Pro
    PC: Desktop
    Plan: Dataone Home 500
Connection: Ethernet (not tested with wireless)
    Browser : Internet Explorer 7.0 (IE7)
    Modem: Ustarcom WA3002G4
    Firmware Version: WA3002G4-0021.01
This method will be handy if you have above configuration and often use Firefox 9or any other browser), instead of IE. Not sure if this will work for you if the configuration is different.

    Open IE7
Enter 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and hit enter.
When prompted enter Username "admin" and Passowrd as "admin" (or whatever you have saved previously)
Make sure you select "Remember my password" ( this is very important step)
Click OK and let the page load completely.
    Now close the browser window.

    Open IE7 again.
    Go to Tools>Internet Options>General>Homepage
Enter "http://192.168.1.1/rebootinfo.cgi" into address bar (remove previously saved home page URL if you prefer) and click Apply and then OK.
Press F5 and wait for few seconds and check if the modem reboots.(how to check: DSL, Internet and WLAN lights on the modems front panel go off one by one and come back momentarily)
    Close IE7.

Now simply using windows Scheduler (Start>All Programs>Accessoris>System Tools>Scheduled Tasks), schedule to run IE7 everyday at 2:10AM and 7:50AM.

    Voila!

It is a good method. The only problem with this method is that whenever you open IE7 during normal times, your modem will reboot itself.

You can setup Utorrent scheduler from 2AM to 8AM.

Then arrange to run utorrent.exe only at 2.15AM using Windows Task scheduler

    Hope this helps.

Really Good Tip. I think there is no option to remember the password in FF. So just if ur going for the 192.168.1.1. just let the complete page load (after entering ID & Pass). Do not do anything, just cose the FF. then do as mentioned in the trick. this will not effective after u cleared the Cache & cookies of the FF.

hi i got my 1st bill just now.. previously when i used to download from torrent i used utorrent scheduler only.. but when i saw my bill i was shocked to see that they are taking into the usage during exact transmission time that is from 1:57 to 2:11 as chargeable.. i have exceeded my free usage by 1.1gb and i have to pay nearly 1000 extra.. even though my download starts from 2 only since the start time falls before 2 they are taking into account.. wat should i do..waiting for your reply...

BSNL bills by the time set on their billing server. U need to make corresponding changes on your pc time, so as to match the BSNL time. To be on the safer side try downloading from 2:10am and disconnect by 7:50am.

    I agree with cool_techie_tvm.

Generally before you go to bed, lets say at 11PM, you can restart the modem manually and put your PC/laptop to standby/hibernate mode.
Set it up to wake up at 2:10AM using settings in your first scheduled task in windows scheduler. (Under Power management select "Wake up the computer to run this task")

This task can be utorrent.exe or IE (to restart the modem) itself.

This way you can ensure that between 11PM and 2:10AM there is no traffic.

in pppoe mode modem itself dials.you don't have to create any dialer in xp.

in pppoe mode(always on) yes as long as modem is on some data transfer will take place but it should be very less(in kb's).just make sure to restart the modem before shutting computer down just in case.also stop/cancel(including torrent) any download before restarting the modem for safety.though bsnl usage portal is not updating since 13th feb because i suggest that you test this method one night & then check your usage next day to make sure it works.after all this is bsnl & there are no gurraanties.

karthiktha! bridge mode can not be used for simultaneously connecting more than one computer to net.in bridge mode you have to simply disconnect & then reconnect without rebooting the modem.this can be done by creating 2 batch files(connect & disconnect) & then running them at scheduled times using windows task sheduler.

paste these commands in a notepad/text file & then save them as .bat

    for disconnect--
    rasdial "bsnl" /disconnect
    for connect--
    rasdial "bsnl" abc_bsr@bsnl.in password
where "bsnl" is the name of my connection,"abc_bsr@bsnl.in" is my username & "password" is my password.

schedule them using windows task scheduler

i dont think this will work at all coz every time no matter even if you have saved the password in ie or ff a confirmation dialog will still appear and you will have to click ok to get into router.

for bridge mode read my above post(using batch files).for pppoe mode read from the beginning of this topic.for pppoe mode you have to paste some commands for rebooting your modem into a text file & then execute them using a tool tst10.exe.you can shdelue this using windows task scheduler too.these are the only 2 largely used methods with a little change in scripts for different modem.

I've tried this in IE7, it seems to work for me. I've NOT tested this in IE6 or Firefox. Confirmation dialog did not appear for IE7 even after restarting the PC.
