You should use WPA-PSK and not WPA2-PSK.

Default Similar trouble with ZXDSL 531B modem/router

Hey navhari2209, i am too facing a similar problem. I recently got the BSNL type II ADSL modem and the internet connection using LAN on a desktop PC works fine.I am trying to connect to internet using my MacBook but it says the laptop is not connected to the internet. The MacBook succefully detects the wireless network, but it doesnt connect to the internet. What additional configuration did you do to get out of your problem?

Is there any specific reason why you are using a proxy? You can easily have a wired/wireless network using switches/routers/wireless routers. Please go through this post:

There must be something wrong at your end. Try downloading again or send a message to admin.

You cannot connect multiple machines when using a dialer. A dialer means that you have configured the modem in bridge mode. Configure it in PPPoE mode.

Just4kix thanx for the reply. My modem is configured in PPPoE mode.

for encapsulation mode I have LLC/SNAP-Bridging and Vc/MUX. I picked brindging one. I will try with VC/MUX

I cannot comment on the standards and reputation of the institutes. But if you are really interested in networking the certification "Cisco Certified" will go a long way.

OK. I have been told by many folks that downloading is a problem, file is corrupt, etc. My advise: turn off download managers and try by standard windows download.

The two posts are similar in some ways but different in some essentials:

In the post "Setup of UT-300R2U with WRT54G", the UT-300R2U is setup in bridge mode and WRT54G in PPPoE mode. In the post "Solutions to multiple PCs ...", the UT-300R2U is configured in PPPoE mode and WRT54G in Bridge (automatic DHCP) mode.

It depends. For port forwarding, BSNL modems do not give options such as virtual server (on the newer models). Hence it is better to have BSNL modem in bridge mode and Wireless modem in PPPoE mode.

But other than that, it makes no real difference. Just go with whatever is comfortable for you.

One post is enough please. Go through the many guides in "Broadband How To" section and you will probably get answers to most of your queries.

    Thumbs up Thanx just4kix

    Hi there,
I wasn't able to connect through pppoe to my router, and hence was not able to browse from my wifi enabled nokia.
With the help of your guide, i realized my mistake of not entering my broadband user name and password when prompted for in pppoe settings.

Now, my bb on the lap is always on and hey, i can access the net on my wifi phone as well.

    Many thanks.

    Bye.

    @smeetd
Also after referring links given in above post @meetdilip
    (A)
You should connect in "Always On' PPP/PPPoE mode.
(userID/PW entered in WAn page of modem)
    (B)
Enable DHCP ( seen usually in LAN menu page)
Give a range say 192.168.1.3 to to 192.168.1.10
    (C)
    In computer/laptop network/WLAN /properties/tcp/ip/properties
    Select obtain Ip address automatically
    Apply SAVE.

    Use 1 modem+wifi router and connect with RJ45 ( *100 meters length limit) from wifi router Lan 1 ,2 3 or 4.

I have (*wifi) router but its not good.....
    mention modem/router make/model/ number.

Assuming you have set up Modem +wifi router correctly,
how near, to the wifi router ,
your laptop is showing good signal ?
and you can surf comfortably ?

    TESTING:
    (a)
keep the wifi router parallel to floor.
    and increase the height.
    Reposition at a higher height.
Rotate for best signal in laptop.

    (b)
    Remove the present antenna.
Insert a short copper cable ( from telephone wire)
Wire thickness just fits in antenna port.(about 4 Inches length..)
    If range increased, etc
give Feedback.( max distance possible in feet )

    With AX Mt882
    STEP1 :

Confirm you can connect to Internet desktop in USB mode.

Confirm a new network has been created in Network settings Page.
Download USB drivers and then connect modem usb port to desktop. Windows will detect new hardware.
    http://mp.bsnl.co.in/bb/mt882/mt8882.htm

Enable DHCP ( In Lan page give range 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.10)
192.168.1.2 reserved for USB mode access.
    REF
The little I know about Dataone Broadband Services offered by BSNL

    STEP 2 :
confirm you can connect laptop to internet in LAN mode.
    Modem Ip address 192.168.1.1

    Para two:

    Step 3 :
If Laptop connects in Lan mode , remove the Rj45 from laptop end and connect to WAN port (or LAN1) of WIFI router.

The IP address for router 192.168.2.1

Another RJ45 from lan 2 to laptoP
Another RJ45 from Lan 3 to desktop.
( remove the usb port cable )

    Feedback.

    Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I'm using BSNL broadband since May,2008. My modem is Nokia Siemens - C2110. I was in 500 combo plan of BSNL since inception. I changed my plan when BSNL started to provide speed of 512 kbps unlimited for 750 bucks.

My problem is frequent disconnection. My exchange officials are friendly but they are not techno-savvy. Most of the time they try to help us but the linemen can only check the lines which is OK but still the disconnection problem remains. The local exchange is only 150 metres away.

Today while surfing, I came to this great forum. I tried to check my modem going to this http: //192.168.1.1 (space was given intentionally as I can't post url before making 15 posts) but it's of no use. I tried with 'admin' as both username and password but it's asking the same again. I have tried several times but still unable to login. Please help.

Look at the first sticky post in the BSNL Broadband forum. The post has links to most BSNL modem configurations and setups.

Default BSNL Static IP connectivity issues

UT300R2U has a static option mode. Using the Wizard, you should select this option. This is the third screen after clicking the 'Run Wizard' button.

Static IP is most useful when you wish to do hosting services or implement your own web server.

    Hello

I recently converted to a BSNL static IP connection at office for software reasons. I think a bridge configuration was done by a BSNL tech person. Wifi Router model is WA3002G4 and it is connected to the main PC using an ethernet cable.

The problem is now that there are two other computers that were connected via wifi to the router which cannot access internet anymore. It has intermittent access in the morning when the router and computer attached to it is switched on. I am able to connect to the wifi network but only locally - internet access is not available. Another thing is earlier before static was done I could access the router setup page by going to 192.168.1.1. This is also not possible now.

All help would be greatly appreciated.
