Question Speed Poll - Home 500 Night Unlimited

    Hi ,

Please post your AVERAGE night unlimited plan speed here (2am to 8am speeds only).

NOTE: Vote is in kbps (kilo bits per second)

1 kBps (kilo Bytes per second)= 8 kbps (kilo bits per second)

    example,
    32 kBps = 256kbps

    Thanks a Ton

Nearly 50% get speeds less than 800 kbps? This doesn't look good.

I recently converted my plan to 500 combo plan from unlimited to try and download all my downloads during the free nighttime unlimited plan. But with the poll result here, i wonder i have made a mistake, with such slow speed, i could even hardly download a movie during this time period.

When You Download a movie It works out To Be the number of Persons Who are willing to share their downloaded movie with other users so the download speed willnt be constant but i think BSNL Speed is very good (2 mbps) You Must & should get average speed of 170kbytes/Sec This is My Guarantee as I am with Bsnl For close to 4 years.

Thank god good to hear such good words, as i had changed my plan from unlimited to 500 combo recently to avail this night unlimited as the speeds for unlimited plan was so less that i had to opt out of it. Now, i am going to do all my downloads during 2 to 8 at night!

    have got 205-212 kbytes/sec
are you sure these are not 205-212KBps.download speed is shown in KB/s in downloads using internet explorer, firefox etc or download manager like flashget,IDM etc.the speeds mentioned in poll are in kbps not KBps & are measured by sites like speedtest.net

new customers in calcutta are getting download speed as 8500kbps in speedtest results for home 500c but even they do not get more than 240-250KBps average speed instead of 1000KBps(=8500kbps).its not my result though.

Please do not blindly believe any speed test results - even those from speedtest.net. Actual speed test should be determined as follows:

    a) Start a large file download - do not surf on other sites during this time and definitely do not do a parallel download.
    b) Note down the average download for two/three minutes after the first minute.
    c) Multiple the KB/s download speed by 8.

p/s. Download speed will also depend upon the load on the source server. Try downloading from good (powerful) sites such as Yahoo, Google, Oracle, etc.

    Im downloading 4-4.5GB from 2:15 to 7:45

    So,
    per min - 14MB
    Per sec - 238KB

Note: in the mean time.. im also uploading around 1.5GB.. so total data transfer is 6GB

hi guys i am using this plan since 2 months i get an average of 200 kbps download speed, speed tests show different values for different sites, bsnls speed test shows 1150kbp(around) browsing speed.

torrent downloads depend on the torrents so they vary, for torrent i got 450 kbps speed and for some other i get only 20 kbps

Usually the download sped lies between 200 to 300kbps

how much you can download in 2-8AM will tell you the average download speed like the member aruncse30 who calculated his average speed to be 238KBps.

So should I or shouldn't I go for the 500C+ plan instead of the 900UL one?

I usually can download around 2 gb+ upload and i do it in between 5 to 8
    so 2gb--3hrs(2h30min) approx
today 5.15 to 6 610mb(u+d) that would be 232KBps approx

Definitely go for 500 plans,as the speed in 900 is 1/8 of 500 plans and if you don't want to use your phone for calling then go for 500c not 500c+

    happy downloading.

Default 220 kBps can be an average speed

As said my Mr. parshanth , torrents needs seeds to downlod from. To check download speed do any of these.
Try to download on or two torrents (eg. a linux torrent or a recent software torrent). You can see your download rate furrying up at 220 kBps.

Yesterday i added Jodhaa Akbar (2.1 Gb file ) and Om Shanti Om (1.45 Gb file)
and a n english movie. I could see my download speed raising upto 240 kBps (for a few seconds only). Anyway im damn sure u'll get a d\w spped over 200 kBps.

    *** I need Advice ***

My connection (whole internet connection) stops after an hour (or half an hour) of utorrent downloading. Then i've to restart my roter and utorrent to start downloading again. I am using Siemens C2110 router If any one knows the reason, please reply...

500C has 175 free calls, where as 500C+ has only 50 calls but DL limit is more as in 2.5GB compared to 1.5 GB in 500C .. so basically for an additional Rs. 100/- per month I get an extra GB but less free calls .. right?
