Default Crappy BSNL Support -- Please read this

    Hi guys,
BSNL is terrible when coming to customer support. We all know that the Internet services are disrupted in India since last couple of days due to the breakage of underwater cable near Mediterranean sea.

I'm on BSNL 1800 Home Plan (hyderabad) and am receiving a slow internet connection speed since two days.. I've been contacting the BSNL support and asking them on when will the internet service will be recovered and be back to normal.. They do not even tell me of the reason (that the underwater cable has been broken) and instead keep telling me that the internet will be back up within a hour or two.

It's been happening the same way since two days... I now doubt the authenticity of BSNL support team's statements (that the internet will be recovered within an hour or two)..

Can someone tell me, how long (do you think) it might take to get back to normal on internet speeds? Do have any links or websites to back up your answer? Thanks guys and i appreciate all of your responses to this post...

since you already knew this much then you should also know that repairing under water sea cables takes at least 5-6 days.also an indian should know better than others about support offered by govt. services(telephone,electricity,road............... ......).

Actually, yesterday I was not facing any problem with BSNL at home. Funnily enough, I was experiencing slow speeds at office.

Today I have mixed results (at office). This site is not a problem but some others are. I will check again at home tonight.

Arrow BSNL Broadband is interrupted due to underwater cables

    Hi friends,
I am Santosh from Hyderabad., using BSNL 512Kbps unlimited plan since an year.
From last 5 days there is problem with the internet provided by BSNL
    the main areas affected are
    1) File attachments in email applications like gmail, yahoo, rediff, msn ...cannot able to attach the the file to the email.
    2) FTP file transfers are failing due to connection timeout,i.e if we try to upload any file more than 100kb the file doesnt upload and it fluctuates from 0 to 8% or strucks at 12% or sometimes increaes - decreases the uploaded file ration.
    3) Few websites are not opening or very slow.

Without knowing the proper reason, i tried few ways to solve the problem like
    1) Changed MTU from 1492 to 1450 / 1400
    2) Replaced with other D-link Router
    3) Disabled Firewalls and Antivirus
    4) Used TCP Optimizer

But all these above solutions does'nt solved the problem.

I raised a complaint by calling 1500 , but the BSNL Help Desk dont know anything about all these issues. They dont have any proper reason to tell why this is happening. Then i took the contact number of Broadband DJE of patny center bsnl office and contacted Mr. Narasaiah SDE of BSNL Secunderabad Branch, he clearly explained that the problem will persists 2 more days, and the reason for these problems is only due to Underwater Internet Cable Break.

So, lets wait for 2 more days to get it solved.

But is it very bad that our Internet Service Providers are ignored about the Technology and they still believe that Internet is only used for emailing, browsing and downloading. They are Unaware of basic functionality UPLOADING and FTP.

Also one more serious issue with BSNL Broadband is they never mention the UPLOAD speed anywhere in the applications forms, in their website. This tell us how good they are updating their knowledge about their profession.

Not even Email Id's of BSNL customer care are provided. This shows how good the Customer Support at a company which is trying for "Navaratna"

    Thank you
