    Default Problem with the modem

I just checked out my modem settings today (192.168.1.1) and i found out this (the red circled portion)
Is this a problem as i am experiencing poor browsing of sites (they are too slow even dataone.in does not respond )

it means your modem dialling using username/pass failed.it sometimes happen due to network problem in bsnl.try during off hours i.e. after 10pm to see if you can connect.it usually happens during peak hours.i use brigde mode not pppoe so i dial manually using xp dialer.sometimes i got this error of "username/password invalid" or simply "network problem remote computer did not respond" etc.sometimes it continues for 20-20 min & rarely 2-3 hrs at most.

    hello pbhargava
authentication does not matter u will still be able to surf the internet and regarding slow speeds the underwater link has been damaged so it will take time to repair so naturally you will get slow speeds .
    thanks
