Question Does Static IP Improve High Speeds ?

I have a 8Mbps connection at BSNL which is 15K. But its not giving the speeds as expected. For example I was expecting speeds above 6Mbps with this line but its giving me around only 3Mbps. However, we have not yet opted for a static IP and are using the dynamic ones. So whenever the IP changes I notice a fluctuation in speed sometimes going very down.

So will having a Static IP benefit me to get high speeds contanstly? Does anybody have an idea about it here.

Yeah, thats what I mentioned. I have not yet requested them. Was just asking whether it would help the speed fluctuations I am getting.

well for business it is always better to use static IP.infact almost every business organization use static ip.i don't understand how your speed problem is connected to static/dynamic ip but as for speedtest results don't rely on them.i have seen speedtest showing a 45mbps connection as 640kbps download speed.use a download manager like IDM,flashget etc with simultaneous no. of connections(e.g. for IDM--16) & see the download speed while downloading from a big, fast site like e.g. Java setups from sun microsystem's site or directX from microsoft's site.

ya dude static IP do provide better speed as u r fixed on to with ur IP as well as DNS servers.infact u r not getting the speed because u have to change ur phone line to a high speed data circuit which u can consult with ur local exchange. the normal telephone line does not offers speeds above 4 Mbps. so u can check ur local exchange
