for 8mbps you should get download speeds around 960KBps.also this is a business plan but i suppose you are using it as home connection.you should ask for static IP & also get bsnl to check your telephone lines as such high speeds requires perfectly fine & maybe some changes in your telephone line.

as whitestar said, you would definetly want to check your phoneline .. and better to setup the telephone lines like this Prashanth Speaks-Technology and Life: Frequent Disconnection in DSL connection

you should be getting atleast 1 MBps download speed for a 8 Mbps connection

I had a similar issue when i was using BSNL, i was on a Home 500 connection

The telephone like had many joints which reduced the speed
Also there was a problem with the port connection it is giving some unusual Ohm reading which was very high

The BSNL official came to my housed and checked it and said that the line was so bad that even normal telephone should not be working

after which they put a single cable form the port to my house and also changed the port, after which the speed improved and never had a downtime for 1 year after that

i think you need to get you line checked. it should be a single cable form the port to your office and get the port electrical details checked

Default Business 4000, 8mbps Speed Problems

I just upgraded to business 4000 plan from home 1800, and i cannot see any difference whatsoever. the speed tests give me the same results of anywhere between 360kbps to 800kpbs download and 36kbps upload.

the statistics of my adsl modem:

    upload snr margin: 18
    download snr margin: 36

    downstream attenuation: 7
    upstream attenuation: 3

attainable rate kbps: downstream 11785, upstream 1336
    rate: downstream 2044, upstream 861

how can i get 8mbps when my connection rate is 2044 downstream? i am hoping bsnl is still working on the back end and the rate changes to support 8mbps. i have aslo written several complaints on this without any response.

any suggestions on what i should do????
