Thread: Configuring BSNL wireless router Siemens SL2_141 for wireles

I just got Sony LAptop with Vista Premium I can not access WLAN though it

my Odem is SIEMENS SL2_141 DATAONE connection

plz HELP

Can be specify more details? Such as:

a) Is your modem configured correctly with Dataone (to the best of your knowledge)?
b) Are you able to connect to internet from another machine (wired PC)?
c) Is your Sony laptop able to detect the wireless network (SSID is displayed)?
d) Who installed and configured the router for you? Was it the BSNL guy?
e) What and where is the exact problem?

1)Yes, my modem is perfectly configured to my knowlege as it is always on i don't have to dial for it

2) yes i am able to connect the wired PC but connection is slow not 256 kbph

3) Yes, as it show connect with default wireless sign one thing i saw that it is able to download the update for VISTA but not able to connect the Explore

Yes BSNL guy configured it

4) problem is that i am not able to connect the Explore and not even the ip id of the Modem as it show problem but able to download the Update for itself

Hope some problem in Vista configuration

check in the 'my network places' that whether the router is bieing detected or not if not then you will not able to surf the internet but u-torrent runs fine it starts downloading .because torrent needs only the gateway & ip address for downloading and websites require both the default gateway and dns servers.

try this :manually configure the ip settings like ip address:192.168.1.5(subnet mask remains the same 255.255.255.0) , default gateway:192.1681.1 , primary DNS:192.168.1.1

ihave broadband connection with siemens sl2_141 modem . i am using vista operating system . now i can not connect with net with software provide by bsnl with modem, i connect it directly and i can not able to connect page 192.168.1.1 . and i can not connect page to change password provide by dataone.in page . i enable java script and cookies according their guideline to open the page but still now i can not able to connect it. please help me

Vista drivers are the problem. Please connect via LAN cable and you will not require any drivers.

Hi Guys

I bought a new laptop and from that day I am not able to connect broadband through my DataOne Broadband WAP.
I am able to connect to wireless but not the internet.

Additionally, I have a wireless network at my workplace but not any internet connection. I want that it should not ask me to change the IP address every time I switch my network. It should automatically connect to that network. Also, I dont want to set my Internet connect at home as Open wireless connection as in that case any one can connect to it.

If along with my internet access problem, someone can help me for above settings as well, it will be a cherry on cake for me.

Hope to get a reply from you guys. Although I know this is quite a old thread.

to make your wifi router more secure go to http://192.168.1.1 login using admin/admin as username/password.. then look for the WIRELESS page.. and set it to WPA(Preffered) or WEP.. and enter a password under network key. once connected to your wifi network in your laptop.. go to the command prompt(start->run and type cmd) and type ipconfig and post output here. it could be an ip problem

I am using Siemens SL2_141 for many days. I tried many laptops of my different friends with different operating system like XP, VIsta via Wify, on my BB connection but I did not find any difficulty & also I do not configure the wify. Only I am using pppoe setings and nothing else
