Thread: VPN Setting with BSNL Boradband

I have BSNL broadband at office. The connection is shared with 5 computers using LAN Switch. We dont have server. It is just a simple P to P network with LAN switch.

At home or when I travel, I use datacard for connect to net. I want to access one of the office computers while I am traveling.

The BSNL broadband do have MT800 modem.

I have found a way to know IP address of office internet connection.

Now the problem is how to configure both VPN server at office and VPN client on my laptop to be able to access a perticuler office computer when I am away from office.

Any idea?

bro i wanted to know that in ur first reply u said that ur company doesn't have a server and just a p2p network!!!!!!!right!!!!!!!!

and u are telling that u want to connect to ur vpn server at office!!!!!!!isn't it.

i just want to know that wether ur company has enabled VPN service from bsnl, as this VPN service is not provided with BSNL by default with ur broadband connection.

There is a service in windows called VPN(Virtual Private netwroking.

Few years back i used this service to dial to my friends computer through landline and then use his internet connection at home.

Note (I was in IITK those days and the telephone services were free within the campus)

ya dear service is there in windows but that is only a dialer like the one u use to dial to internet.

infact as u are saying IITK has its own private leased circuit, so u were able to do so.

Yes, I do agree. I intend to use Windows VPN service, when in fact like dialing to office computer. I am OK with it.

can anyone help to me to set up office computer and of course my laptop to be able to access office computer.

Just to mention once again. In the office network there is no server. It is simple shared resources network using Network Switch. We have BSNL broadband at office. BSNL modem is connected to network switch using a network cable to be able to share broadband connection on the office network.

The IP address of the BSNL modem is 192.168.1.1 and computer IP address of computers on the network are 192.168.1.2 ... 192.168.1.3 ... so on.
I am aware that setting up VPN is easy with fixed IP. BSNL offers dynamic IP. I have found a way to find IP address of the computer using Remote IP Tracker v1.0: Easy way to find remote IP address online..

Looking forward to get a solution.

There are routers which do not support VPN. Is Huawei MT800 is one of them?

Problem here . Private LAN
Probably Windows Default Ip address.
What is the range of DHCP you had given in modem? say 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.40?

In all computers TCP/.IP properties
obtain Ip address automatically.
try in one computer first.
If same settings as given appear

enter manually 192.168.1.x ( x=3, 4, 5, 6 7 ETC.)
255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1

Create a new dialer for BSNL direct.
Start/All programs/accessories/communications
Network connection wizard.
Instead VPN usual option.

For intermittent connection the Mod mode has to be c changed to GDMT or disable
ADSL2+.
Check in DSL menu.
Apply save wait for two minutes.
recheck Line rate/ rate. will reduce.
But stable connection possible.

Also In Management if TR-069 client is enabled uncheck the box.
