BSNL is good and the best for value for money but their customer service department is not good. My experience has been very good. Connection was never down. I have 256 kbps unlimited plan and I always get the speed (256 kpbs = 32 kBps). Also there are some plans where landline rental is waived - Home 500 C, Home 500 C+ and UL 900+. These three plans are the best and you should choose one depending upon your requirement.

I support BSNL in any case......coz they are the chipest & best......they down for very limited time if any fault occours.........yeh they are the worst at helping...but u can get the most basic from the forum like this. so BSNL is what i say
BSNL Stands 4 : Bhai Sahab Nahi Lagega:D
& yeh i am getting the speed of 2.1 Mb/sec at night with the IDM (internet soenload manager)
BSNL Stands 4 : Bhai Sahab Nahi Lagega:D
I too vote for bsnl, just because they have very reliable connection and have all the infrastructure to provide you with great net connection. But the problems arise only on the situation if you get trouble with your connection, because the response rate is par below normal than any other private isp. But that happens only once in a while depending on where you are put up.
bsnl is the best one than reliance .............. try using home 500 combo. its the best plan.
tnx ppl for the help and i have booked and Bsnl unlimited 900+ plan,
can u tell me what speed should i get in that package![]()
u will get a speed of 256 Kbps i.e 32kB/s download speed
The best plans are (in the order):
1. UL 900+
Cost = Rs. 900 + service tax, speed = 256 kbps, usage = unlimited, free landline
Analysis: No worries about excess billing but downloads (especially torrents) are slow. No problems for normal e-mails and plain surfing.
2. Home 500 C+
Cost = Rs. 600 + service tax, speed = 256 kbps to 2 mbps (usually at 1.5 to 1.92 mbps), usage = 2.5 GB pm., 2 AM to 8 AM free, free landline
Analysis: Some worries about excess billing. Very fast downloads (especially torrents). No problems for normal e-mails and plain surfing.
2. Home 500 C
Cost = Rs. 500 + service tax, speed = 256 kbps to 2 mbps (usually at 1.5 to 1.92 mbps), usage = 1.5 GB pm., 2 AM to 8 AM free, free landline
Analysis: Some worries about excess billing. Very fast downloads (especially torrents). No problems for normal e-mails and plain surfing.

didn't you read the post above.all bsnl 2mbps plan except Rs.250 comes with a 2-8AM free usage time slot.whatever you download/upload between this time is not counted.though you may have to wake up late in night & early in the morning if you do not have an uninterrupted 24 hrs power supply to your computer.
BSNL BEST HAI MERE LIYE
UL 900 is just name sake unlimited... i mean there is no point of having unlimited with such low speed.. better go for home 500 and download at night!!
My Suggestion Is Go for Combo plan of BSNL Rs500, 175 calls free & in case U want to use Broadband For Day Take Airtel 256 kbps Unlimited @ 750 / m, With 50 free calls................
And I still say, UL 900+ is the best plan. You can say that it has low speeds but you can always leave it on. There are three kinds of downloads:
a) Downloads from servers (typical client-server)
b) Torrents (peer-to-peer)
c) On line gaming
In all the above cases, you will have to either stay awake during the night time or use complex scripting/scheduling to enable downloading at night. If you forget to switch off before 8 am, you are royally screwed.
So I repeat again. Limited plans are not suitable for heavy downloaders. Speed and safety do not go hand in hand ... just like cars/bikes. So choose ... do you want speed or do you prefer safety?

To the heavy downloaders:
When things are calm, the boat is steady. When the storm (huge bill) arrives, you may capsize.
Do not try to cross the Pacific Ocean in a jolly boat, my friends.
To the low downloaders:
You can opt for Home 500 C or Home 500 C+.

j4k i beg to differ buddy as Heavy Downloading Can Be done only on a Home 500 or a Combo plan, Unlimited plan is for Non Stop Browsing; Downloading big files <700 mb will go on on on & on ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------& ooooooooooooooooooooooon
I started a movie download yesterday night from a torrent at 10 pm or so (The Bourne Ultimatum, size = 702 mb). Today morning at 9 am it completed. I was watching the movie till just now. Granted that it would have downloaded faster in a speedier plan but I spent a blissfull nights knowing that-
a) no rebooting modem at 2 AM and then again at 8 AM
b) no worries about overspending my limit
c) no worries about bandwidth theft
However, to each his own. If someone feels comfortable with a certain plan, then take it.

@just4kix
no rebooting modem at 2 AM and then again at 8am
I think thats not a major problem, its easy to set up and possible!!
no worries about overspending my limit
if you do all your downloading within 2am to 8am then very rare chance of u crossing 2.5gb
no worries about bandwidth theft
Most connections are port binded
